Hi,

I am quite interested in the new NA Skylines. I have seen them for sale on Prestige and Jspec Imports and I reckon they look good.

Are there any post 2002 Skyline owners here on this forum, and what are your impressions of the car. How does the car feel on the road? Interested to know its performance as well, in terms of acceleration and handling. Does the car feel front heavy? etc. I would assume it is very similar to the 350z we have here in Australia.

I have not seen any on the road yet. I think they are fairly new on the list of cars that can be imported. Are there and compliance workshops in Victoria and how much will the compliancing cost?

Thanks,

Jon

dude i dont think their even made in japan yet lol. there was recently a proto showed to the public in a tokyo car show in japan which was fewatured in high performance magazine. as far as the 350z it will eat it for breakfast, the v35 is competing with the new porshe turbo, not that 350z bs lol

Thanks for pointing that out.

I think I may have made a mistake in my enquiry. The car we are interested in is called a Skyline in Japan. Maybe it is G35? The shape of the car is very similar to a 350z. It has a 3.5L V6 NA engine I think. They were manufactured and sold after the R34 sized production.

Japan V35 = USA G35

350GT is the best version of the V35. Comes in both coupe and sedan form. Has the VQ35DE found in the 350Z.

You're thinking of the GTR-Proto, not the V35.

Werd. Also, I believe the new GTR proto is using a brand new chassis & not a skyline, I don't think using the V35 would be a good platform for the GTR marquee anyway.

Jimbos V35 was vandalised not too long ago, on a friday hehehehe....

Was it bad? Seems that alot of vandals are inspired by jealousy.

 LMAO, mate it wasn't vandalised, the boys in the NSW forum have this thing called TGIF(Thank God It's Friday) where they try & trick everyone by making threads where their cars get vandalised or they have a crash etc.

Here, read this & you'll get the picture...

I've driven an auto 350GT coupe, and I quite like it.

Its a lot softer than the 350Z, but at the same time its a lot more plush and quiet. And has rear seats. A great place to be in when you're tooling around town, or giving it a squirt on the motorway.

We were looking for a manual one, but before commiting ourselves to a purchase, we wanted to find out more about the car. it is not a very popular car compared to the R34s. I guess it is kind of an expensive car to modify. I think APS has a force induction kit for it. Probably cost an arm and a leg though.

The 350Z powertrain parts will fit a V35. Because the wheelbase is a bit longer, the catback exhausts won't fit but everything else pretty much will.

The engine isn't exactly the same as the 350Z's in terms of the ancillaries (the intake is a little different, from what I've been told) but it'd cost almost nothing to get them up to the same level.

Pretty sure most suspension bits will also fit.

Its not that its not a very popular car, its just that few people have been able to compliance them until recently. Now that they can, a lot of importers are rushing to bring the car in.

That brings me to net question. I was wondering where I can get these cars complianced. I remember there was a website on Dotars which gives infomation on where compliance workshops, but I could not find it again. It was bookmarked but lost it now.

Well, at least getting replacement parts will not be a problem since the 350z and V35s share alot of parts. No doubt Nissan will charge alot for them though.

Hi Jon,

We can assist you with compliance on the V35's.

We have imported a number of them now, including my own V35 GT-8 4 door.

Drop me a pm if you would like any further information

Regards,

Steve

    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
