hey guys i been stuffin round with my stagea wiring today and i got the translated fuse box lid for the fuses under the dash and i think who ever made it has it all wrong, though i cant be sure. where it says the 4wd fuse is, i have no terminals in that spot at all and the 4wd one is at the top and by itself. and some wires in the engine bay box dont match colours of ones in the interior fuse box. so somethings not right...

anyone care to check the translations with someone who can speak abit of japanese???

also whats the relay in the engine bay fuse box that says "FICD" for????

has anyone buggered around with the stagea ecu wiring and stuff or am i the only one???

one big nightmare hehe.

cheers

Brad

Please explain...better still show us some pictures.

I have an S2 so I dont know if it is the same layout. Either way I cant see any relay or fuse with FICD on it.

On monday noight I have a sparky wiring up my DFA & IEBC. Last time I pulled the ECU cover off it I got a fright and put it back on.

hey mate its in the engine bay fuse box, its between the sunroof relay and the headlamp relays. i highlighted the FICD relay with a red arrow. maybe it stands for " fuel injection control device" or something as i know the gtr's have something similiar but with a different name.

also whats the motor fan??? the fan in front of the air con radiator unit??? whats engine control as well??

As I suspected they are not the same layout - I do have all the same fuses and relays though - just set out in a different order.

My S2 does not have FICD. But then it is RWD, so I dont know if that is part of it.

Also, I have one 15A Deicer. what is it ???

Spose you could pull the plug and see what stops working!

I have the original japanese owners manual, but cant read a bit of japanese >_<

Also I am having a brain fart atm and cant remember where the interior fuse box is.......

EDIT: Tangles to the rescue, after being slapped around with a cold, wet trout, it is behind the coin box above the right knee. Apparently if you pull it hard enough it comes........

Brad, do you want me to post up the excel translation I had done for the interior fuse box?

hey cyrus im pretty sure the fuse box diagram for in the car i have and they all seem wrong too me, like the wire colours are totally different in the engine bay fuse box to what it says for in the car.

was the translation done by someone who knows japanese or they just guessing?? :D

post it up and ill see if its the same one. i need this workshop manual dammit and work from that for some idea on whats what.

thanks everyone for helping too.

Brad

It's at home and can access it from new work, so when I get home I'll post it up, or if anyone else has it handy and can post....?

thats the one, but the wires on the back of the fuses for rear tailights or whatever (as an example) actually relate to the colours of the air con relay in the engine bay fusebox. so i dont know whats wrong, but i aint trusting that diagram one bit at the moment, dont wanna cook a brand new $1600 pfc now

Yeah that is it, and the person I had translate it could read, speak and write japanese pretty fluently.

BUT still I would wait for the workshop manual before doing anything, dont want to cook anything!

also that fusebox label is missing the 4wd fuse thats above the dash, fuel pump fuses and running parralel to the rest of the fuses. so i dont know if the other 4wd fuse is actually 4wd or not???

also while im at it, whats the "de-icer" (not demister as its got that already on another fuse)???

who reckons if i started ripping all the auto wiring out it wouldnt run properly and things stop workin???

more wiring in that damn car than a 747 plane.

no worries, i just dont like taking things for granted until im 100% positive after a similiar problem a while ago with my autronics cdi wiring which cost me 2 dyno trips and hours of stuffing around.

thanks anyway mate ill let u guys know if they are correct or not soon enough ;)

Yeah I will be checking out my cig lighter fuse, as it is dead, and if it is dead and in that position, well at least that will confirm the cig lighter fuse spot ;) Now that I have that pic, I'll go out and check at lunch :)

My mate translated that........

I trust him 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000%

Hes more fluent in Japanese than a Japanese hooker

I have the updated version which my mate did, see attached:

Well either way the fuse for my cig lgither had blown and I replaced it and hey presto my boost guage which I hooked up to the cig lighter wiring now works, so confirmed the cig lighter is in the right spot ;)

awesome cheers guys i just wanted assurance that they are correct :) just looking and that "rear wiper" one on the top vertical section is 4wd as it even says soo in english on the japanese diagram and the colours match 4wd relays so i think thats not right.

ill send ya the bill if it aint ;)

jk

thanks

Well all I did was confirm the cig lighter was right, so if you plug your pfc into that you will get power, other then that, I dunno if all the others are correct or not :)

I hear the dipping your pfc into a bucket of hot water makes it go faster too :yucky:

Well at the time we translated that (we being SAU Stagea royal-we) I passed on the transalated and original versions to my mate, and he made a few subtle corrections but said thats about right. He was at work at the time so I guess he only put a couple of minutes into it, but then again thats all hed need.

Now, I trust him as he knows his japanese very well indeed, and sure you can bill me but Id pass the bill onto him, and as of last Thursday he's currently in Thailand at the moment (had the monthly full moon party on Saturday so hes probably fked up right now still) :D but anyways hed pay the bill when he gets back to Australia around about this time next year. lol Plus he's on 30day terms from end of month, so youd be looking at getting the money back around July next year.

Hope that helps. :D

Note: remeber that your car is a bit of an odity tho, being a 2.7ltr and all that

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
