So pauls appears to have a problem with the top end reading flat then...

Compare it to something else..

Maybe this one I've attached that obviously doesn't have something strange going on with a flat top end.

page 4 about 1/4 way down.

im aware of the top end dropping off. its always been there.

so how is the rest of the tune shit. how are the cruise afr's shit

how is the low cruise IGN timing shit. how is the max load ign timing shit

well if you pulled your head out your arse for a second, and read what i said before, i was making a general comment, not specifically talking about you. and you aren't the only one making approx 180kw on a pfc. maybe you all go to the same tuner and he is crap. maybe you did it yourself and you should've taken it to a professional. there are people out there who can tune better than others.

if you have a flat spot of about 1000rpm it means you have some sort of issue. it may not been in the tune, but it is somewhere. maybe i have a better flowing exhaust, or turbo in better condition, but there is something that mine has that yours doesn't to give it that extra 1000rpm worth of power.

i have read what you said, several times. and i have seen the comments by cubes. both of which i have read and understood. the car hasn't been to the same place, its been to 3 different places and i have done some touch up tuning myself, mainly advance some timing here or there and lean out the afr's more for better economy.

so now you think its the turbo or something else causing the lack of power? are you sure? which one is it? its the same in your case. the ecu isnt the only thing that makes power. perhapps something else in your car is different

im happy with my ecu and tune, you keep your stock ecu tune and keep ranting about it making the same power. we're both happy

i was simply saying possible causes for your flat curve since it has always been there. and for the millionth time, i'm not keeping the ecu, it is getting upgraded. i never said an aftermarket ecu was bad, just that bolting one in doesn't automatically give it more power than a stock ecu. and if the person tuning it doesn't have a clue then it could end up worse than a stock ecu.

I wouldn't feel completely safe running around with yours Mad, afr's are obviously on the 'edge' definitely not something the thread OP wants. Dirty fuel filter = leaner again, fuel pump that decides no more = leaner again. Definitely not safe.

Have yours tuned with safe afr's and you will most likely find your back down with the rest of them, 190-200rwkw.

BUT you WILL pick up mid range and off boost power.

On your dyno that may make it look like yours has more mid range over others, jump on another and it will be the same as the others.

So sure 200rwkw 'can' be done with a select few R33's with ecu's that don't freak out and R&R all over the place.

Generally series 1.5, well I knew of one R33 Series 1.5 that was a freak and cracked 200rwkw, I know of 4 others that had fuel cuts and R&R topping out at 178rwkw. So not everything is equal.

I think you will find its generally not the tuner that gets low power out puts its the variables involved.

Engine condition, turbo type (series 1, 2 etc), how the car is tyed down, inlet temp sensor position and finally how the dyno reads. Its not uncommon to have a dyno read 10rwkw different.

With regards to pauls strange top end, thats not a tuning issue, its most likely something stupid.

it is a series 2 motor. series 1.5 car i have seen a few of the 1.5's with series 2 motors.. i asked how the afr's were since they wouldn't give me them and they said the were ok, but could be improved. there were rich in some areas, lean in others.

and i understand that different dyno's pull different powers, but i'm 25hp up on another r33 in town with same mods (except the adjustments we made) (same dyno, same day), so obviously i've done something right.

the tune has been alterted slightly, i have throw in a stack load more timing in the low end 8x8 area

and also cranked out the cuirse afr's in the 8x8 area to get some super economy. there is also on avg a 2deg increase on the ign map everywhere.

the top end we arent sure why it dies off. ive looked at it, a tuner has and we can't figure it out

its a series 2 with 150,000 on the clock. the top off dying has always been there, since day one when i got the car 50,000 with stock ecu

what exhaust setup do you have? it may be something isn't flowing well enough to let the gases escape fast enough so it is just backing up. generally a poorly flowing exhaust won't be able to cope at high rpm. or do you have a partitioned pod?

Maybe a little more fuel with a little more ignition timing gave better results than less fuel less ignition timing.

Nothing wrong with 193rwkw anyway.. I'd say its the norm for the dyno I run on at least.

That 211rwkw dyno sheet was a bit of a freak run.. :P It made 187rwkw on the same dyno another day. probably just tied down different or something. lol hehehe

Comapring pauls dyno sheet to a few other rb25's here paul has more average power everywhere. 130km/h is pretty impressive.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again? 
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer 
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
