Hi i am new to the skyline scene and i recently purchased a r33 GTS-T. My car has done 107,000kms and i asked the dealer at the time of purchase if the car has had the timing belt changed at 100k and they said they had a look at it and and the belt had looked to be new. After having the car for a wk or so i was having a good look at the engine and it doesn't apear that any of the screw on the front of the timing belt cover have been touched. My question is, is there any easy way to see part of the timing belt without taking off the whole cover. eg a small removable cover plate. If not i am starting to wonder if the dealer checked the belt out at all meaning that the timing belt would need imediate attention.

Also i was just wondering where a cheap place would be to buy a timing belt. eg auto barn, nissan dealer.

Any info would be great. :fakenopic:

I think there should be a Nissan sticker that is like a seal the timing belt cover, if its been changed that sticker would have been broken.

When I got my skyline the car yard I bought it off did a full service, changed belts, oil, coolant, plugs, etc, and fixed all the things the RAC Inspection picked up, (as part of the sales agreement).

About 4 days after I bought it I took it in to my local (trusted) mechanic who carried out a full service, replaced all the belts, oil, sparkplugs, coolant etc. It was because I didn't trust the service that the dealer had done because someone told me that they use cheap oils, belts, plugs, etc. I found that they hadn't replaced the sparkplugs, but had fixed everything on the RAC Inspection list.

Anyways if I was you I’d take the car to a trusted workshop and get them checked out because if your belt goes its going to cost a fair bit.

hello there

Nissan dealers are pretty ok for price. I bought mine for just $82 a few mths back in the Nissan dealer in Melbourne City.

The sale forum here is pretty good. Who knows u'll be able to pick up a bargain.

Nevertheless, timing belt change labour will not go above$200 (that;s worse case scenario) but get it done for a peace of mind.

    • We have a huge update coming in the next few months, version 5 of Invision will be released. I'm holding off any changes until after this change as I'm not sure what features will be removed or introduced.
    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
