Hey all, my A/C doesnt seem to work, I know a little about how these things work in the skylines, but was wondering what this sensor is for, and where the hell the wires *should* be going....

If somone could help me out here, it would be great ;)

(see attached picture for what I'm on about :) )

Cheers,

Steve

Cheers guys :D

So would I be correct in saying that with it not connected like it is at present, the A/C won't go cold? It seems as tho no matter what temp you set it on, its always on warm. The A/C compressor clicks on in the engine bay, so that sounds o.k...... I don't know. Does anyone know any more about this system??

Cheers,

Steve

From memory, it is a tube that sucks air into the sensor which is elsewhere... I dont have the R32 anymore so I cant tell you exactly :D

The trick is to hold the down arrow for 5 seconds after it gets to 18 degrees and FC comes up, it stands for F...ing Cold, vice versa when it gets to max temp, hold it up and FH comes up :)

Kewl Bozz, cheers :D

I tried that, and it certainly does force it to hot or cold, but after I checked the self diagnostics on the climate control, it tells me the sun load sensor, and the internal air temp sensor are no good.....(well obviously :) ) What sorta affect will a malfunctioning sunload sensor have on the system? See, even in FC mode, the A/C won't go cold either. (I also noticed the fan infront of the A/C condensor doesn't operate)

Oh yeah, and where are the two plain black wires from the internal temp sensor meant to be going, mine are cut, and I can't for the life of me see where they are meant to go??

Thanks heaps for the help so far guys, This site ROCKS:burnout:

take it to a aircon specialist, sounds like u need ur aircon re gassed, i had the same problem last week. #22 & #25 (internal and sun sensors) came up reading as failed, they have fixed it all up now tho and it runs like a dream. take it to them and see what they say.:burnout:

I think i had a similar problem. The a/c was working fine (had it serviced) but the system was always blowing hot air no matter how cold u set the climate control. I took it to an auto sparky and it turned out a fan or rotor somewhere in the system had broken loose and had to be resoldered. been working perfectly ever since.:D

Cheers all for your help :D

Well, after doing a little more research, I found out that you have to be in direct sunlight, or use a bright torch directed straight into the sunlight sensor, otherwise it renders a fault. I did this, and sure enough only the disconnected internal temp sensor reads as a trouble fault now :P (and its pretty obvious why it does :) )

Thanks all, and if anyone can tell me where the two black wires coming outta this sensor actually go, it would be freekin excellent :)

Thanks again,

Steve

    • Before I commit to it as I already have the wastegate off the car, would you change it to the 9psi spring instead of the 12, or whack it back on now and try your suggestion?   Edit: Actually I might just swap the spring and see what the logs say after another few pulls, as we know it's still spiking without the Mac valve in the picture so I need more data without the Mac valve trying to combat the issue.
    • Sounds good Hmm suppose the main thing is, how much do you care about this car? The filler doesn't make for a very good water barrier lol. If there was a tiny little bit of rust forming now, that in 3 to 5 years time becomes obvious under the paint (starts to bubble up), would it bother you?
    • I already have the ability to datalog the voltage... what I can't do is correlate it to what the gauge is showing when I'm looking at the data at a later date. Or something like this. Except getting the oil to 125C+ involves me going 200+kmh at the track so you can imagine this is a little tricky unless I do something like note what the voltage is when I am at the top of 5th gear so I have a point to reference on. Drove car today. O2 still reading richer because hopefully not a leak instead of massive restriction I've introduced. Car really doesn't sound like a LS. It's quite strange. Pulled a bit of fuel out up top. This does potentially explain why my spark plugs looked like the car was running pretty over-rich. If I was tuning it to a ~12.7 which in reality was far richer than that in the past. It will be handy to have the dyno WB to compare my WB to to compare notes that's for sure. At this point I'm happy to just sit in the passenger seat and tune the thing given I've got about 7 million hours on the platform lol.
    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.
