The car arrived last tuesday to the immediate accident and this has given me some time to focus on getting the car ready for passing the pits.

Overall, the car is in pretty good condition. I've spent the last week scouring the car for issues that need my immediate fixing and I must say a few have come up with a few and looks like my plan to have it done by next week will be on hold.

The car at the moment is stored in the garage and I ran it last night for 10 minutes to circulate the oil through the system. I gave it a few short bursts which produced a nice black circle of oil on the white wall behind the car. This left me with two thoughts:

  1. Turbo seal gone.
  2. Why did we paint the garage wall white.

Also letting it idle I have noted she is running quite rich. Super. As i looked through the engine bay I grab eye of a powersteering leak and I have noted numerous things not being fastened:

  1. Radiator overflow bottle
  2. Intercooler piping
  3. AFM and Pod
  4. THE f**kING INTERCOOLER!

So I grab some bolts and fasten the interooler to the mounts and am now looking for the mounts that are needed to hold the other parts. At least the engine is there.

Second, the electrics. half the globes in the interior are out, including the 3 omari gauges. The oil temp omari gauge is out showing the temp as the highest possible without even running the car. As I check the headlight it seems the right hand headlight does not work at all. Hits the relay and then is dead. Super

Third, the exterior. It is a bit of a pig but the photos i got showed the car and the kit in pristine condition. This is not the case. The front bumper has huge gashes in it, and also some deep scrathes down the sides of the car.

So not only do I have to focus on this I have to still resolve some issues:

1. Horn - Needs to be installed

2. Carpets and Roof Lining - Needs to be installed

3. Fan Cover - Needs to be installed.

4. Hose to run from water to the windscreens to wash them - Needs to have them installed.

This is as far as I got so far so here are the plans thus far:

  1. 1. Rear Left hub to Nissan to have the studs replaced after the severing of them.
  2. Install needed parts
  3. Full service and Tune:
    • Replace Pads
    • Replace all fluids
    • Tune for 1.0 bar
    • Power Steering Leak
    • Turbo Gasket

[*]Electrics - Gauges and Headlight

[*]Paint and fixing of kit

The paint and kit can wait until after rego so this is what im chasing:

Electricians: Who do you recommend. I dont want a backyard job, I want a guy who knows Skylines.

Paint: The car and paint is calsonic blue and I need someone to go over the car doing little touchups, anyone know of anyone decent?

Cheers,

Andrew

The black stuff on your garage wall may not be oil from the turbo. If the car is running rich it is highly likely that the excess fuel, mixed with moisture and carbon from the exhaust is just spewing out. My car is running really rich on cold start and i have the same thing. A tune will help fix the problem.

If the car is not in the condition as discribed on purchase can't you chase it up with the importer?

All the best.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
