Hey all,

I got a problem with my R33, everytime i go over a bump or if the road is alittle bit rough, the car seems to sway side to side like i'm going bush bashing or something, the car just feels really unstable sometimes at the slightest bump.

The car was fine until i got it back from the tuners when i had the SAFC tuned on the Dyno, i dont know if something is broken or loose.. any help would be appreciated thanks

Good thinking K

Actually, i remember once with my car on a dyno the hicas light was coming on. after a few goes of the operator getting in and

out of the drivers seat, the steering had been turned a considerable amount. hicas kicks in at approx 80+kmh and tries to turn the rear steering, which of coarse it cant do cause the rear wheels are wedged into the rollers.

dont know if this could break anything, but worth consideration.

hey guys!!

i seem to have the same problems as Drivebai is experiencing and did a hicas diagnostic on the car just before..

the codes i recieved was

3 long flashes..........followed by 2 short flashes..........and then 1 extra long flash

does anyone know how to read these codes properly??? my guess is that its either saying

first 2 long flashes means there is a fault

2nd long flash is the first didgit = 1

2 shorts flashes = 2

meaning:fault no#12 - Hicas motor power supply not present

or

3 long flashes = 3

2 short = 2

meaning: fault no#32 - engine signal not present???? (i have no idea im lost)

could someone much more cluey give me a second opinion on this !!

CHEERS!!!!

I have HICAS error codes 22 and 32, and I've got permanently heavy steering, but no HICAS light on ever. Anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT: My car also has the sideways movement over bumps too. It's really annoying. Even driving on a slightly bumpy road gives my arms a workout trying to keep it steady.

Mic33r - did you check out that site i posted earlier..

yeah my car doesnt swing that bad.. it just kinda wobbles abit and is very annoying.. also the other nite i gave it a squirt of the line and the rear was bouncing up and donw while losing traction where as before the tyres would just screech...

also does that if i go round corners really fast.. i rang up justjap and they think it more than likey the shocks or a loose bush somewhere i will have to test out the hicas diagnostic thing as well.. although my hicas light doesnt come on either...

let us know if you find a solution

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
