Hey Guys need a bit of help with my car Any ideas

when i viewed and test drove the car it was in perfect condition

After buying the car i took it home and the clutch seemed really high so i took it to the mechanic and he said it was the clutch cable so he replaced it and it still wasnt right, it was worse then it was before. The seller told me it was a new clutch so i got the cable adjusted now it seems O.K but when i put the clutch in it sounds like something is spinning against metal :( if that makes sense but if u take ur foot off the pedal and put it back on it normally goes away

Also ill be driving at a steady speed and suddenly the whole car will shudder like its miss firing or something but i checked the spark plugs and theyre all fine. so i ran some injector cleaner through the engine still seems to be doing it

id really appreciate ur input its got me stumped

anyone else had ne probs like these?

i can hear it from outside and i can kinda feel it on the pedal. its scary

well ive had a mechanic look at the clutch itself he sed it was fine

my car has 177000 on it.

also when the guy adjusted my clutch he sed a rod in the gear box had to be lubricated.

ahhh ok but did u ever have the metal spinning noise thats the thing im most worried about and the shuddering lol the pedal squeaking is the least of my problems LOL the shuddering is prolly the most important tho coz it affects my driving

if the clutch is aftermarket and heavier, it may be shuddering because you aren't taking off cleanly enough.

I had one of the most beefcake clutches and alloy flywheel in my N14, I had to get it cleanly off the line otherwise it would shudder a little. Could be what you're experiencing.

nah the clutch isnt after market im pretty sure its standard and the shuddering doesnt happen when im taking off it happens like when im driving normal like on a free way or something all of a sudden

i just looked at a post similar on pulsar.org he sed that the rear engine mount bracket was broken, and he had the grinding as well, he replaced the bracket but it didnt go away, so he replaced the clutch cable and the noise went. but i put a new cable in it less then 3 weeks ago.

Thrustbearing.

I did my clutch in my R33 2 weeks ago, and I had the screeching sound when I had my foot on the clutch, took it for a spin around the block (a rather 'spirited' spin), by the time I got back, the noise was gone, never to be heard from again. I think it is just the new thrustbearing wearing in against the clutch plate.

The thrustbearing is on the input shaft of your gearbox. It would be a reasonablly big job to do yourself, unless you have the right tools (like access to a hoist). It should go away by itself, but if it doesn't go away, then you may need to have a look at it, probably just needs a little grease.

ahhhh that helps alot coz when i got the clutch cable adjusted the guy sed put wd40 down a shaft in the gearbox or something, and my friend did it for me while i was moving the clutch in and out but it didnt help, but it was a bit of a half arsed job LOL mad ill give that a go if not i do have access to a hoist n that, my friends a mechanic so ill find out if he will do it for me. i think the trust bearing would be fairly new since i got told it was a new clutch wen i bought the car and if the thrust bearing is included in the clutch kit.

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
