Basically cancelled due to the fact there is no cages or anything needed. Buller and Lake Mountain etc are all still fine. Same with the other Targa events. It's just the Race to the Pie that's been canned.

And if I'm honest I kinda have to agree with the decision. There was nothing to stop Leewah and his 600awkw GT-R with NOS plumbed in running this event with no cage - which is kinda crazy.

that sux

if ppl wanna unsafely run the event, let them at their own risk. if they die, so be it. they obviously dont care, so why should we?

as long as no one else besides the driver can get killed/injured whilst racing, it should be fine.

Because their next of kin can be a bunch of gold digging scum and sue the event organisers for not protecting the idiot against themselves.

Its stupid. We live in such a car oriented country thanks to our useless public transport yet the government then tries to crack down on illegal car-based enjoyment without setting up some affordable legal alternatives.

What else are people going to do if you don't give them a legal venue to go enjoy their cars, that they can afford to go to?

Are you serious ?

It has nothing to do with ppl wanting to run their cars thinking "she will be right" ...or i dont care if i die

It has to do with the fact that even the best drivers make mistakes. Regulations are based on the style of event and ensuring that the cars running are suitable.

Sit back and think for a minute. The speeds of the normal production car is scary these days. So dont be surprised if their needs to be a re-think in the devices / safety equipment required to be fitted to cars.

Noone is ever going to make you do motorkhanas with cages etc. And typically hill climbs have been fine for road cars as well. But the speeds that turbocharged AWD cars can now get up to...well they are now approaching the speeds of highly modded cars from 10-15 years ago. The specials are still BS fast, but you get my point concerning the speed of road cars.

The topic of driving cars at the speeds we do should not be trivialised. And the organisers are in charge of the event and responsible for setting out a fun and competitive event. Part of that is considering the classes of cars that are to run, the points/handicaps, the licences required to compete.

Sitting back and casting dispersions is easy. Professionals crash cars, just like Joe Blow. Its racing so you push. Some events have higher associated risk and need to be treated as such.

This event was one such event that would have been tricky, as the number of lanes and the speeds cars would have seen on the stretch of road probably put it in a different category of motorspot.

Its the fact that ppl are building far faster cars these days, with no improvement in safety other then the inherent safety gear of the manufacturer (Hell most remove air bags) then there is always going to be a major re-think/shake up sooner or later. Otherwise they woudl still be running F1 races with hay on the side of the road and on your local streets

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
