Well my car just dynoed 212kw @ 18psi.

My mods include:

Microtech LT-8

Custom Frontmount

3.5 inch dump to cat 3 inch for the rest

Hyflow T3/4

h/d Clutch

Vl pusher pump as well as standard intank

Standard air box

Well i don't know what everyone else thinks but this seams a little low for the modifications. I though atleast 257kw because have beaten a certain silva with a rb20 before.

The dyno was not in shootout mode and had a ramp rate of 100

Did you dyno it with the bonnet down?

Thats the best way to get a more realistic figure. It is always a lower figure too.

I wouldn't worry about the figure if it was an improvement.

The real measurement is beating that 'certain silvia' and doing some quick times around your favorite circuit or drag strip.

Stop getting all hyped about the dyno figure.

It's a peice of paper, just like toilet paper its only fit to wipe your ass on if its not being used to help tune a car.

So what if the silvias got a better dyno readout. Scan yours into the computer and change it with photoshop to read 1000rwkw, then you can beat him at the races AND in a dyno paper stand off!

Yes you can say i'm a little focused on the dyno readout, I guess 212kw is not enough. The tune on the car was pretty S&*t, as soon as i gave it a boot full it detonated the loudest i have ever heard it. Sooo in 2 weeks it will be going back on the dyno, the same one as the rb silvia.

I'll let everyone know how it goes!

:D

Hi sik32, is this an RB20DET? No adjustable cam pulleys? No injector upgrade? No adjustable fuel pressure regulator? No internal mods? Standard camshafts? No pod?

If it's a roller dyno (not hub) 212 rwkw is 360 bhp, that's pretty good for an RB20DET with the mods you have listed. I'm surprised it didn't run out of injector capacity.

I sort of agree with the other guys, except I reckon the dyno might be a bit optimistic.

PS; let us know the dyno shop that the Silvia runs on, I want to take my car there and get a good bit of paper to wipe my butt on as well.

Microtech LT-8

hey sik32,

I'm too am running a LT-8 on my recently purchased GTS-4.

Just wondering how you find the driveability of it in your RB20?

How's the economy if your just cruising along in 5th gear?

I don't think they have closed-loop cruise mode. So they don't use the oxy sensor, do they?

What about initial start-up?

I know the LT-8 doesn't use the idle stepper valve. (the thing on the end of the plenum) So do you have some sort of air by-pass valve to compensate for the greater amount of fuel at start-up?

I'm just asking cos I find that mine never starts cleanly especially after I haven't driven it for a day or so. Sometimes it even seems like it wants to stall itself cos of the lack of air (revs drop below 500)

As far as the economy on my car, it pretty bad considering that I hardly ever boost it around town. and I spend alot of time cruising in 5th gear. something like 350km to a tank:(

I haven't had a chance to dyno it yet but hopefully will in a few weeks.

anything you can enlighten me on?:P

ok Interloper, First of all I find Microtech a great computer if you are on a budget. Drivability is fine, as it drives like the standard computer, but there is a few things that dislike about my Microtech. Cold starts, the car sometimes stalls on the first turn of the key and will not idle properly until the car has warmed up properly. This seems to be a problem that most cars with microtech have.

Fuel ecomomy, well that went out the window along with my standard computer. Microtech is Very bad on fuel, this also may be caused by the tuning as I like it too be a little fat. Even when i'm off boost and on the highway it still sucks fuel like no tomorrow.

Yes approx 350km. If i could do it all over again i would chose apexi or motec because of money i have wasted on fuel i could have afforded either of these. No Joke

Good luck with it all:D

Ps thanks for the toilet jokes guys!!!!!!!:bahaha:

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
