Ryan...

3 things...

1. Cairns is not 18 hours from Bundy...

2. The cops are the same everywhere in QLD

3. They have just as many skylines per head of cattle...

Are you saying it's longer or shorter to Cairns?

We did Cairns in two days from Brissie, but that's because we wanted to stop along the way... we did brisbane to mackay in easy 10 hours and then Mackay to Cairns in easy 8 hours... we stopped in Townsville for a good 2/3 hours... And bundaberg is like ~3 hours from brisbane?

The drive to Cairns on the Bruce highway is actually alright! People were telling us how crap it was, but it was way better than I expected. Just make sure your alert between rockhampton and mackay and bowen to Home hill.. those are probably the two worst stretches.. After home hill, theres very little outback and it's more tropical and sugar cane.

Are you saying it's longer or shorter to Cairns?

Yeah much shorter sorry...

I took me about 12 hours to mackay where we stayed over night then 8 hours to cairns...

That was in a 36 tonne truck and 40 foot trailer... So Bunderburg to cairns in a car should be shorter...

Make sure you stop and take a break every 2-3 hours. Cause long drives like that are very straining...

since cairns import scene is the topic, how many performance workshops specialising in imports are there and is there any compliance places up there? i'm going to be opening a business of this nature in the next couple of years and at the moment i'd take cairns's nice warm days over brissy's anyday cheers

Theres no compliance places up here that I know of. As for workshops, there's prolly three or so. There's one performance part store that sells the brand names to all the F'n'F kids up here.

It's definately a niche maket thats starting to pick up quite a bit.

what can i say about cairns. . . . . . . . . . . wrx's, r33's, r32's, 180's, supras, holdens. . . . . .

if you see a white wrx with a black bonnet. . and has asian guy sitting in it. . race it . . . a friend of mine. .(11-12 sec car)

a silver R33 Gts-t series 1 sedan. . . and has an asian guy sitting it. . race it. . . . . a friend of mine. . (13sec car)

a black 180sx with an asian guy sitting in it. . . . race it. . . its my cousin. . . .(got a Rb25detengine in it). . . .

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
    • It's been quite the ordeal but hey, at least you figured it out.
    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
