Sydneykid
Hi GR8NES, as far as I know Oliver sell over the internet, so you should be able to buy them that way. You really need blanks (unmachined), I'm not sure whether you can order them that way on the web site, you may have to talk to their tech support. Why 6.125 inch rods? Sydneykid
Hi Jordan, a 6 inch rod is 6 inches between the centres (big end and little end), a 6.125 inch rod is 6.125 inches between the centres. You can't have a 6 inch Carillo that is 6.125 inches. Steve
Checked with the local supplier and the US factory, both quoted about the same for 6" rods - about $2400 - so no luck, sorry guys Steve Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/12710-rb-series-con-rod-info-will-help-alot-of-people/page/3/#findComment-271440 Share on other sites
DESCR8
I can get my hand on SCAT rods for around 800HP for $1,200. Let me know they would need machining to suit GR8NES Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/12710-rb-series-con-rod-info-will-help-alot-of-people/page/3/#findComment-271522 Share on other sites
GiJOr33
how much do you reckon machining is gonna cost? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/12710-rb-series-con-rod-info-will-help-alot-of-people/page/3/#findComment-271554 Share on other sites
DESCR8
I reckon around $400 and $100 for Clevite bearings max!!! GiJOr33
gee... that's not bad hey! Compared to $2400 for carrillo's... and 800hp is plenty! So is that like 133hp per rod(6*133=800, almost)? Or is that 800hp for 8 rods, so 100hp each? DESCR8
You can't really work it out that way, you have to work it out off cylinder pressures and Ive found ou that a V8 at 8,200 rpm which is supercharged making 1100bhphas the same cylinder pressures as an RB30 making 800bhp. GiJOr33
oh ok... so is that 800hp you said for RB30 cylinder pressure? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/12710-rb-series-con-rod-info-will-help-alot-of-people/page/3/#findComment-271698 Share on other sites
DESCR8
Yeah, so basically the SCAT rods will holf 800Hp in an RB30 GR8NES Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/12710-rb-series-con-rod-info-will-help-alot-of-people/page/3/#findComment-271705 Share on other sites
Xeron
This is an old thread, but if u guys are after a 6" rod, thats chev 350 territory. Its longer than stock, but alot of people make em, and u wouldn't need to pay $2400 for em thats for sure. 6.125 would be a mopar.... 360 from memory rod. And a smaller rod than stock dosn't give u more displacement, the rod is still moving the same distance. It DOES realllllly kill ur compression. Rod no longer reaches deck height, thus theres a huge gap between the top of the piston and the combustion chamber, thus ur CR is killed.
