Howdy All

Just picked up my new fire engine red s2. I am seriously impressed with the power and driveability.

Was hoping you guys could help me out with a couple of things.

1. It looks like the previous owner must have disabled/removed the HID headlights as there are DIY wire joiners behined the bulbs. Is there any way to refit new HID bulbes, ballasts?

2. How do 18x 9.5 inch rims fit under rear gaurds? Was looking at

Manaray 18"

18x8.5 +46 5x114.3

18x9.5 +48 5x114.3

What do you think?

Car is dead stock ATM but am looking at doing a few low key mods in the near future.

Any help is appreciated.

Matt

Oh. I (and stagea) is located in Newcastle NSW

Very very nice, well done.

Ive got a Series 1 so cant offer too much advice about the lights, however with the mags, you MUST run same width front and rear - or risk stuffing the 4wd system.

18 x 8.5inch width should be ok front and rear.

Best of luck with it all !

Hey that was quick!

Cheers for the info. Ill have to try and find a matched set of rims.

One more question, does anyone know where I can get a hold of nissan central locking key fob? Car only came with one. Is there an aftermarket key that will do the job?

Also do S2's come factory with a 3 point imobiliser?

CHeers

I dont know, but any half decent alarm system should do the central locking as well.

Kid flushed ours down the toilet (still bloody blocked too).

So yeah, we lost 1 x car key and 1 x alarm keypad

bought a new keypad off ebay but need it calibrated some how, could do with a new key, too

Plus Im a cheapskate and didnt pay that $20 the fella wanted to wire up the alarm to the central locking !

Hi Matt,

Nice work on the Stag!

You are going to need that 3 point alarm for insurance right? Well anything factory fitted won't cut it as far as I know, you will need a Black wired, 3 point immob, Aust standards approved alarm so don't worry about the standard key fob as you will have a new remote with the alarm and you can get more keys cut from a Patrol blank I hear...

Welcome and enjoy!

Cheers

Luke

LOL

glad to be of service

ebay, $160 delivered, black wired full Australian insurance approved, called a Black Widow.

Ive got a new (cheap; ebay) keypad but I heard I had to go to Strathfield to get it coded correctly.

All in good time; probably go there and get them to throw in a DVD player (head unit only) to make it worth their while.

So you wont pay $20 to hook up the central locking, but several hundred for a dvd player just so you can get the keypad hooked up..... :(

thats right, as I'll sell the Clarion 180w tape head unit and 6stack Clarion CD player fo a cple hundred !

so a dvd player will cost me nothing, in essence.

anyone interested? I can assure you all that the CD player has never skipped and both units are in awesome condition. But for me 700mb isnt long enough - give me 3.7gig of pure trance, thanks !

Wheels

The other posts are correct for same width front and rear, but only if your car is a 4WD

If it is RWD, you can have different widths

The offsets you have quoted are wrong

Those wheels will sit too far in and most likely foul the suspension

You need something more like +35 on a 8.5 rim and 9.5 rim may just not fit

The biggest rim width most Stagea have on them are 9.0 +30 (33/34 GTR offset) and they run every close to sitting outside the guards

Headlights

These would have been zenon's from factory, but under compliance they have to be converted back to standard type bulbs. Unfortunitly you cannot convert the lights back to factory zenon bulbs, plus they are illegal.

The ATTESSA doesn't care about width of wheels/tyres, the only thing that it cares about is the diameter. They have to be the same front and rear.

Mine has 17 X 9 X 30mm offset, standard R33GTR wheels with 245/40/17 tyres and they are JUST inside the rear guards at 1.25 degrees negative camber.

As you can see they are just legal (particularly the rear);

:( cheers :(

PS; they don't rub, even with the race car on trailer towed behind

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?

    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
