i took my hicas lock bar in to get installed today and the guy said i need some bolt/plugs to screw into the lines that you disconnect so that power steering fluid doesn't go everywhere.

Does anyone know the size of the thread that i need to buy?

if you block the lines, it will kill the rear stage of your power steering pump.

Do not do this.

The correct method to loop the lines in the engine bay is here

cheers for that, couldn't find that thread when i searched, thinking i might pay someone to install it cause it all looks a bit confusing!

Did you read it? If you just block them off, your powersteer pump will fail!

So you make the decision wether you want to spend a little more money now to loop the fluid to the cooler or spend alot more later to fix what ever you've broken after plugging the line?

I would suspect that no one knows what thread size it is, as this is the wrong way to go.

i'm sorry i did read it but i'm confused as the guy i took it to, to get installed said i need to find the bolts/plugs so i just did as he asked cause he's the man everyone recommends in adelaide so i thought he'd know what he's talking about more than i would!

i'd do it myself but i'm no good with this type of stuff and i'd be worried about screwing somthing up!

well, he's wrong

If you bypass it properly, you can remove the lines all together, and it also doesn't wreck your power steering pump, and it also retains the power steering cooler (that's another thing you won't get if you just block up the lines rather than looping them)

I was looking at it from a very capable point of veiw! :D

I think your best plan of attack is to get the pics off the other thread and if you choose this guy that everyone recomends, show him the Photos and any other relivant information and "ask" him if he could do this for you! Then you can remove everything from the reroute back and have it done the right way.

If he says no, then take it somewhere else. But to be fair to the tradey, it would be acceptable for him to add $50 or so on top to carry out the loop and remove all the hoses and main unit in the engine bay!

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
