If you unplug your fuel lines your car ain't running :) Technically you're not "driving" so you don't win sorry :P

Yeah 250kms; most of that tank was spent going nowhere; just revving the engine trying out some new stuff we did.

With that in mind; you could leave your car idling for a day and you get 0kms out of a tank!

Say have you guys seen the 98 Octane they sell at Liberty? It's about the same price as regular unleaded because it contains more ethanol, but apparently on rexnet the guys have found good experiences with it.

What are your thoughts on Liberty 98 Octane PULP?

Wouldn't go near it... sorry!

Fuel is not that expensive at the moment; staying relatively stable when you think about it. Meh; if you think 98RON from BP, Shell or Caltex is bad - try getting your fuel from ELF (113RON)

The race team opposite us purchased 105L for $1,100.00 :P

Thanks for the tip Stan. I've just done a search on SAU... guess the overall sentiment is without a full retune it is not quite suitable for our pre 2005 skylines.

well then i'll just poke a hole in my tank then go for a drive down the road, and drive with my left foot on the brakes so i have to keep it floored to go anywhere.

But you're still going somewhere...

Why not just jump into the car; and just hold the revs down 0kms, 65L

Cool my car uses infinite L of fuel to go nowhere

thats part of my problem, the maccas here sux, so you spend ages sitting in drive thru, and its too cold to turn the car off.

Normally floats around the 350-400km mark.

i haven't got over about 320-330 since i've had the car, but i am only running stock ecu, no piggy back, so i'm running pretty rich. and it is hilly as hell here, so that chews up a bit more fuel. put a new o2 sensor in hoping it would help but it didn't. but i am also running pretty high boost, and just put in a remapped ecu which is dumping in even more fuel. but getting a safc when i get my tax back.

Yeah I got a stock manual S2 R33 gtst with pod filter and cat back HKS 3". I drive 50/50 pretty enthusiastically/cruising and im lucky to see 240-300kms to about 55-60 litres. Would a SAFC help to reduce fuel consumption? What other mods could reduce usage as I am spending S**T loads on fuel atm.

Damn some of you guys are using some serious fuel huh. Its just as bad as a Gen III commodore which is twice the size!! I'd say get your O2 sensors checked and try keeping off boost when taking off the lights if you can.

Thanks for the replies guys. Well good to know it's not uncommon then. I'm coming from an R32 Gts-t, and that averaged around 10L/100km. Even with an added 500cc and variable timing, I wouldn't have thought the R34 GTT would be that much thirstier.. oh well

Might try freeing up the exhaust and running a SAFC and seeing if that helps things along a little.

It definitely gets me why fuel consumption vary's so much between the models. >_<

Its 100% not the displacement as my fuel consumption hardly changed going from the 2ltr to the 3ltr.

Normal driving (no open road or peak hour, just local short trips with a 50-80km/h speed limit) with the odd squirt see's on average 11L/100km's, dipping to 10.5ish if i'm really cruisy for the whole tank.

Last tank of juice I drove it hard, every set of lights was up on boost in every gear, usually i short shift around at max 2000-2500rpm with almost zero vac and get it in top gear asap and keep it in decel fuel cut for as long as possible. But yes.. this tank, many hills squirts, reminded me why I bought the car in the first place and suprised me how well they really do handle. But yer.. last tank... Bumped up marginally to 12L/100km's. Or.. 430km's to 52litres.

The cars running clean injectors and the o2 sensor has been replaced with a genuine item. I replaced the o2 sensor when fuel economy dipped to 350km/s per 50litres. It made no difference, replaced injectors (larger items and trimmed fuel in pfc). Fuel economy instantly back. I doubt this is every ones problem but it was mine. :O

Maybe the R33/R34's VCT actually hurts economy.

    • sold listed as a Tomei LSD 1.5 Way For 1998+ Nissan Skyline ER34 25GT RB25DE w/Open R200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174006114594?campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms=&campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=71883f2ccc571356e0a757bc7adfdde2&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms= it went in like butter all gears, alignment, back lash etc, rotation and clearances correct, and if rolling all rotates smooth and free when coasting down road , clutch in or out over 10 mph smooth... its the binding, clunking and jerking from a stop that is most concerning, also seems like its going to tear the tires off in 10 miles of normal road driving.
    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
