i couldnt beleave the cops last night, i was in a car park with only my car and some old ladys and 3 mates..

had my bonnet up so the cops pull up behind me and ask to have a look and start defecting me..

the car is pritty standard but he did got me for fmic and boost control.

under epa rules for fmic and removal of boost contol.

so im guessing other guys have beendone for fmic and was wondering how they got along getting a test done (got told it can only be done in 2 places in sydney)

and to get down there i will probs need a standard intercooler which i dont have because i just got the car 2 weeks ago! man... im so sick of cops, wasnt doing ne thing at all and they still giving me a hard time!

what state are you in?

In victoria you're allowed 1 intake mod...so a fmic with the standard airbox is fine. a pod with the standard side mount is fine, but not both together...

dont know how it is in sydney though if thats where you're from.

if the pod is covered by a shield or one of those custom boxes, and if you had a FMIC then it wouldnt be illegal right?

its still 2 intake mods.

pod + smic

fmic + airbox

either/or, but not both.

if the shield you made for the pod looked like a stock box, then you might get away with it, but its still not legal

    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
