Well I've been pestering this old guy to buy his Datto 1600 for about 5 years now, and it looks like his finally ready to sell up...

I'm only 21 - $27k is a decent house deposit.

Thats just my way of thinking at the moment anyway. Things could change though!

jasevr4 - Im 19.... :)

stasis - i will buy when I am ready, at the moment it is more important for me invest money in myself and setup my business well and true. I have big goal and these big goals will pay off very big time.

good on you

:)

just remember every single car from japan seems to have the mystery 70 000km on the clock and thats r32's and all, so id say more like 150k for them ones, and so one with 135 000km would be alot more i'd imagine unless this is actually genuine km's which i wouldnt put money on :)

no im not having a go at jspec or anything im just warning people the km's mean bugger all as u cant trust them anyway. my stagea had 120 000km on it when i bought it and its absolutely spotless while ive seen r32's that a absolute shitheaps with 60 000km. just the risk u gotta take i suppose :)

personally i wouldnt touch a rb26 with a 10 foot pole unless it was a fresh one as alex has said. dont expect to run 450hp and it last for years like some people want u to beleive. 9 out of 10 die going by people on these forums, they are high revving engines and bearings/rings/ringlands etc dont last when high revving all day like in a rb25 with lower rpm limit. plus im sure almost all rb26s have been flogged around as people wouldnt buy them otherwise.

thats my useless 2c worth

agreed... never go by mileage... i dunno, i've noticed int he stag community that the 100,000km mark seems to be a holy grail... a lot of people look at a car, think its a bargain, and suddenly change their minds when they see the mileage. Surely major service on a stag at 100,000km is the same as on a skyline? What's putting people off?

Useless? I wouldve paid at LEAST 15c for that bad boy. that quote makes PERFECT sense. GTRs and Autechs are the sort of car you'd only buy if you really want a performer. if you are just going to cruise around, buy something with a 25. If you want a quick car that responds well to a heavy foot, youd get a car with teh 26.

You may find a car in decent nic, maybe even low kms (maybe even GENUINE low kms) but id say they would be a much rougher and harder driven amount of kms than youd find in a 25det stagea. they are a family car over there, whereas the guys that buy performance cars in japan generally use them for just that - performance.

All in all i think that if we buy through Jspecs normally they will tell you wheter theres a need to ask an independant mech to inspect the car. I was abit scared at first when i bought the car before i actually see the car with my onw eyes. But it was good.

im with qikstagea when you buy 260rss dont expect that the previous owner to treat it like a family car. But i guess with all the floggin at stuff it is acceptable for the engine provided that you dont rev it up while the engine is cold and on time service which mine has all the records.

Its really hard oohhh the general rule is looking at the Kms. true but you dont know what type of conditions that the car was travelling at for those amount of Kms it had travelled. To be safe you can have a mech to inspect the car first to put ypu mind at ease first.

that just my opinion though i could be wrong.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
