strikes are based on the driver, not the car.

they dont reset, when you get to three you are the final straw for three years. AKA, my car has just been auctioned off and i do it again, 2nd car immediatly auctioned off.

i find it f**ked that only 15 people have died because of street racing since 1997 yet they are confiscating our cars.

as to the guy that said they would know your rego, you ever heard of a fake identity (aka, the whole lot inc birth extract, bank accounts, address etc). If i KNOW i am going to be caught thats only a small effort to go to in my books

as to the guy that said they would know your rego

that would have been me.

i dont get it. are you saying get your rego details changed to fake details? and even if so do you honestly think many ppl are going to go to that effort so they have a chance of escaping cops?etc? think about this aswel: youd have to change your plates EVERYTIME you escaped a chase.

i think it would be a MUCH easier task to not hoon. or atleast be very selective about where you do it :(.

cheers. james.

EDIT:

yet they are confiscating our cars.
correction: they are not confiscating OUR cars just people who hoon. you make it sound like EVERY BODY on this forum hoons. and also, just because it was ONLY 15 ppl who died, try using that argument against the family members of those who died.

i personally think that faking your details is rather extreme and stupid way to get out of losing a car. if you get cought for it then you get into even more trouble for fraud.

as for hooning, a guy i know bought a r34 gtr off a guy that had lost 16points in 3 weeks. he owned the car for 3 weeks, then sold it after he lost his licence, since he knew he was going to lose more points when he got his licence back.

and as for changing your plates after every chase, if the cops type in a rego plate and it no longer is valid, it still shows them who it was registered to, and the new rego number, so that is pointless too.

and the cops have about 2 weeks to book you after the incident. so if you get into a chase and the cops don't happen to get your rego, park the car for 2 weeks afterwards.

meh i cant think of anything more retarded than these new laws

Sweet.. i lose traction in the wet, and i get put down for "drifting" and my car gets clamped at south kensington station, next morning its got the crap keyed out of it and shaving creme in every orifice..

That in itself is f*kd.. They said they may tow they may clamp but id be hoping it was down to the drivers choice, which one happens.

second offence you lose the car for 3 months.. thats probably not so bad..

But as some one said before they start trying to take peoples cars on the 3rd offence, ther'll be somehigh speed chases.. People gonna have like secondary drop down number plates, that cover there real ones and crap, james bond style. Also, if a guy gets pulled over on 3rd offence and theres 4 other blokes in the car, theres a pretty good chance that a cop or two will get hurt as soon as he says "im repossessing your car"

Personally i would run before letting them take my car.. i wouldnt think about it being stupid, id just go "screw that they can take a burned out shell if anything" and drive..

fake identities are a bit extreme, but a fake passport etc is like a grand for a good one, less than a 34 GT-R...

15 people killed since 97 and they do more for this than stopping drink drivers etc, it aint about savin lives. taking a drunk's licence away, and throwin him in jail will cost the stat money, auctioning off skylines will make HEAPS.

mad082 - go steal a set of plates, do a runner. then the cops cant prove it was your car, even though there might not be many around like yours, but any half decent lawyer would make a mocary of it in court. in short, steal a set of plates, go race, ditch the plates, wait a few weeks till the heat blows over, go do it again.

R32 gts-t, i know what you mean, and you prove my point from before, theres gonna be a hell of a lot more high speed chases, and not from crazed bank robbers and what not like you see on worlds wildest police videos, it will be people that cant stand to see their pride and joy get taken away from them, with no return/compensation, made even worse by the fact that you will be labeled a hoon when you arent meaning to do anything wrong, like your wet road situation. it happens to my mother sumtimes in a crap EA falcon, its damn sure to happen to some-one with a turbo skyline

but if it is just a spur of the moment race, you don't really have time to pull over and grab a set of plates off a parked car. then if you do get chased and happen to get away from the cops, but happen to run a red light in your escape and get clipped by a car, then the cops turn up to that you get into more trouble again, and could end up being someones bitch in a 3x3 cell.

so its easier to do the right thing in the first place.

i seriously dont know how ppl get into high speed chases. if your racing on the streets and go past the cops at high speed i dont think there going to chase you.

if so they have a duty of care. cops chasing cars at high speed is stupid. they're only going to make the person running from the cops panic and increase the chance of ana ccident and innocent ppl being hurt or killed.

yeah but cops have these wonderful things called radios, they dont need to chase you, they let you go, then when you think its all good and drive like normal, there'll be heaps more of em waitin for you down the road, or better yet, on your doorstep

    • Biggest thing is you're okay!   It sounds like between the accident, and the drive home, it was a pretty torturous trip again! On the bright side, you took the opportunity to enjoy the event more from the perspective of a spectator, than as an entrant!   Sad to see so much damage to the car. It really has taken a HUGE hit in the front end. If/when you choose to repair, hopefully the rails are straight (At least from shock tower backwards). Hopefully the extra cage coming through there has save most of the chassis rails, and HOPEFULLY saved the motor too. Best of luck when you eventually get motivated to start pulling it down to check it all out
    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
