Hope your mate pays you back, good luck with it.

If I ever crashed one of my mates cars I'd sell my own and scrape up every cent to pay them back. It's what's right - even if it wasn't completely his fault he was still behind the wheel.

Exactly, it's the right thing to do. Too many dishonourable people around these days. :)

Thats too bad mate, sorry to see that. But no insurance? I had a mate that had a silvia 1.8NA and he didn't buy insurance either because he never thought he needed it, wrote it off 1 week later :D sad but true. At least none of you were hurt thats the important thing. Can't really insure life even though there is life insurnace

That can be fixed.. its just a small hit, why is everyone saying RIP etc etc?

Maybe cost you ~2,000. R32 front end parts fit then just buy GTR bonnet and GTR gaurds ;)

Edit : didnt see the rear quarter.. that one is hard to fix LOL. maybe 5K just there

whys everyone blaming the mate? hes not the one who got too smashed to drive..

there isnt a chance in hell i would drive a mates car if it wasnt insured..

Its a case of badluck.. but no insurance these days is just asking for trouble

sorry to say but no insurance no sympathy.

if ya cant afford insurance it means ya cant afford the car

Mate. Im sick of reading this and similare posts to this, Jus cause you dont have insurance does not mean you cant afford insurance. In alot (most) cases it is not financially viable to pay the stupidly high premiums for god know's how long and then the ridiculously high excess fee's if one day something like this does happen. And then have to fight with the insurance company who can constantly change the rules and move the goal posts to suit the argument and weasel thier way out of paying the originally agreed amount.

But im guessing buy your profile stating "you dont have to be young to enjoy a GTR" Your an older bloke so insurance only costs you a bout 12 bucks a year so in your case yes you would be an idiot not to have it.

Sorry to hear bout the car crash mate this is the reason i dont drive mates quick cars and dont let them drive mine to many complications when things go wrong.

But i do feel for you i crashed mine a little while ago at oran park massive pain in the arse time and cost wise.

But i thought that was a rite off and it was not so ask around see what you come up with.

Have you and your mate acually talked about your options in regards to retribution and compensation.

sorry to say but no insurance no sympathy.

if ya cant afford insurance it means ya cant afford the car

if god forbid one day u smash your car i hope noone gives you sympathy either.

edit: do some sums on insurance for younger drivers and you will see that its not an irresponsible thing NOT to insure your performance car.

Insurance is a negative, Haven't got any as I never thought "I" would need to claim

you should always get insurance, there's always a 'what if'

i wouldn't called crashing the GTR going out with honor..........going out with a blown something or a spun somthing......thats honor, this is just unlucky.......sorry to hear about it.

yeehaw! (like me)

Nah we weren't really going quick hey, lost it around the turn about 60-70 k's, I said when we got in the car take it easy you crash it you own it.

This wasn't no mountain run fun thing, he says he thought it was a different turn which is why he went into a bit to quick.

PSI_GTSII "guessin you can't do or expect to much from your mate"

your kidding right? so if you jump in someones car and you crashed it you wouldn't expect to pay for the damage you caused?

60-70k's around a corner is too quick for an 'amateur' driver.

my car is insured. so if someone else crashes it, they pay excess.. nice n simple.. asking someone to pay $18k is a bit "lol" to me. I don't think he'll pay it..

i say do what BeerBaron suggested. Strip it down as parts and sell it, then if u don't make $18k out of it, ask your mate to give you the diference.

btw, was ur mate drunk?

60-70k's around a corner is too quick for an 'amateur' driver.

LOL. Your kidding right. I think your jumping the gun mate you dont know the driver and you dont know the road.

Thats nice if someone crashes your car they pay the excess nice and simple. SO what how does that help this bloke in this situation.

blow a tyre coming round a bend and slam into a mercedes dealership.. tell me then its not worth having insurance... theres a reason for insurance.. they call them "Accidents" not "On Purposes"

every one has them eventually.. i havent had one yet.. but i still will never own a car/bike without factoring in insurance

sorry i meant full comprehensive.

i think it is stupid not to have third party property insurance, and that is irresponsible, as you are putting other peoples property at risk.

if god forbid one day u smash your car i hope noone gives you sympathy either.

i dont need sympathy i have my gtr insured for 30 k and it costs me 800 a year (value for money as far as i am concerned )

that is good value for money, but that kind of value is not available to a lot of people, especially living in sydney, which makes it not worthwhile.

dude you are one annoying kunt. stop with your f**king useless comments.

Coming home from a mates party last night out in the mountain, let a mate drive my car home with me in at as I don't drink drive, well anyway the results of a amatuer and a gtr = bang

Now if YOU had read his first post, he specifically called him an 'amateur' driver. this means it's probably his 'mates' very first time or one of his first few times he's driven a fast car.

this careless moron then proceeds to speed.... 60-70k's around a corner = speeding. His "mate" should pay. This guy said he told his mate that if he crashes it, he owns it. Do you have any witnesses to this verbal agreement? Take him to court.

i cant say or do anything to help this bloke.

it's just one of lifes lessons. dont drive a car you care about anywhere if u're gonna drink. Also, don't let ur mates drive ur car unless u really trust them.

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
