They're big, cheap, and American.

Having said that I have been tempted to try them - they make 11ty-billion different types of calipers!

As long as the design is OK(ie are stiff enough across the bridge, take a large diameter rotor / thick rotor etc), they should work fine...

Give it a shot and let us know how you go!

If you need some radial mounts machined I might be able to put you on to someone

cheers

haha I can be the guinea pig!! :O

I'm very tempted at the moment... Basically I've found a full kit that uses the superlite 4 piston caliper, a two piece 330mm rotor, braided lines, pads, bias valve, brackets etc for not much money... basically a little bit more than it would cost me to buy caliper extension brackets, rebuild my existing 32 4 pots, and getting some DBA 5000's, so yes, very tempting...

As Ronin said, Wilowood make a caliper for every man and his dog. So jsut check the model of caliper and make sure the pistons arent smaller then what you are running at the moment.

Im with you, i often look at the Wilwood gear and what they can be bought for. They have calipers that go for $5000 each, but they also have good 4 pot and 6 pot calipers that are between $600-800 each so is tempting

wilwood have a good selection of pads available,

its just a matter of getting the right one.

we started using a harsh compound and new rda slotted rotors

would only just last a rally. now use a softer compound

and get 2 rallies out of rotors with similar stopping power

and not so touchy

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Dougmo, which compound do you use, and are they readily available here??

The caliper that comes with the kit is the Superlite 4, so I'll have a look into the piston size. I wouldn't mind going the Superlite 6, but it's probably a bit overkill, and I'm going to have trouble getting them inside a 17 inch rim...

Yeah, seen those mate, that's where I got my pad choice from

Thanks though.

no probs.

btw, you shouldn't have a problem fitting the 6-piston calipers in a 17" wheel as Wilwood have a brake kit for the sierra cossie with 6-piston calipers, 323mm rotors and they fit inside 17's.

Really?? Cool, I'll have a look into it, and see what they say.

Cheers man.

Btw, this is the kit I'm looking at, optioned with Polymatrix E's and Slotted, Zinc coated rotors

    • How much have you lowered?  I had 350Z springs in the rear and was able to pull the camber into factory spec with the factory arms on the rear, obviously the front ran negative camber as it isn't adjustable, but rotating the wheels regularly evened out the wear.
    • Either the installer needs to come back, you need an auto electrician, or you need to learn automotive electricals yourself.   First step Id look at is where that big thing came out of, is there still things unplugged at that location? Maybe they just forgot to put a relay in or something?
    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
