I was thinking bout bending up and making dual exhaust tips, and glassing a second exhaust pod into my rear bar.

What do you guys think?

Im waiting for my adjustable gtr wing to arrive to fit to the cf boot.

hey mate

personally im not a fan, i like the skylines with one exhaust, if you have 2 man its gunna resonate heaps 2.

but its all up to you mate, if it was me i would be thinkin of a duel twin out the original cut, like drop off the cannon and get a nice duel tip, i have seen em str8 through on another 33, it was a gtr tho and had a seperate exhaust for both turbos.

ive got a dual n1. they are the dogs nuts. wouldnt swap em for anything. good luck in finding one though as theyre not made anymore and hard to come by. theres also a trust version out there too

took me all of 3 minutes to find :spank:

Apexi Dual n1

looks good

The main problem I'm expecting is with the position of the fuel tank on the right hand side. I'm also going to need to modify the rear bar to make it symetrical, which is going to be interesting since I've never tried to fibreglass before. I'm keen to make it work though so hopefully it'll be done soon.

Is your rear bar standard? If it is, all you have to do is cut the exhaust hole.

I have done quite a few of these, as long as you take your time they look good.

I'll have to find a pic of an xr8 i did last week.

I've just organised a Veilside rear bar which I'll hopefully pick up tommorow. I won't know exactly where I stand until I see it on the car, but I'll have to make it look the same on both sides, while keeping the mufflers as high as I can without seeing the fuel tank etc through the cut in the right side. Shouldn't be too much of an issue, best scenario I just cut out part of the right side, worst case I'll have to cut part of the right, and fill up part of the hole on the left. Once that's sorted and painted it's off to the exhaust shop.

Silent I don't suppose you've fitted a veilside rear bar before? Do you know if they sit much lower then the standard bar? If the do it'll make the whole thing a lot easier.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
