i dont get it? how does having faded/silver windscreen wipers make your vehicle unroadworthy? thats the biggest load of shit ever :S

Its called ADRs, wipers etc should be non reflective - you cant beat adrs, unless you get an engineers report.

100mm is legal, I actually passed my car over welshpool pits slightly lower than 100mm (ie, it scraped when it went over) but the guy there thought it was close enough and let it slide

I also passed welshpool with coilovers - I really dont trust outstation pits, unless its pretty much stock, they dont like passing anything.

We have had to change the same bushes on a car 3 times. Then after telling us what a POS it is, he could only find 1 door handle you had to fiddle with to get open. If they don't want to pass you, they will find something.

Pit day 2 = ARGH!

Failed. again. Nothng mentiond about the previous problems. Now my front indicators are 2 far in, and not high enough. So looks like im in shopping for a new front body kit :)

Did you go to welshpool? Those reasons are BS. What bodykit do you have?

Aye i went to Welshpool. A 32 was in front of me.. got a little asian guy inspector, passed him after like a 5 min expection. I was like pleeeeeeaseeee give me him, he probaly owned the GTR i saw in the parking lot :) Then i saw the inspector from kelmscott come out and im like ohhhh shit! I had my friends mum take my car thru, and lucky he went to some other guy instead of to me... then the asian inspector waved my friends mum to come forward so i watched from the seats at the side. Went around all the outside of the car and checked all the lights horn etc. He stopped at the front of the car and looked at my indicators and is like to the guy that failed me the first time (the old kelmscott guy).. they look okay to you? and of course he said no. i was like GRRR so i ran over and asked what the problem was. He explained my lights were to far down and to far away from the outside of the car. He also said that if my headlight indicators were working it wouldnt matter. I then told him that R33 indicators are not apart of the headlights and they are below the lights on the body kit. He just said it dont meet standards, and failed my car ;)

So ive done a bit of looking around on SAU and ive found a number for a panel beater so im gonna go in tomorrow and get a quote.

here's pic sorry about quality.

heys, dat was me in the skyline (if it was a white one, and if your 33 had a black fmic). the 5 minute job was a re-inspection.

btw on a side note wat colour was the gtr in the car park? i didnt c one...

We got told off for having 8 1/2 inch rims on a Commodore (back in Trev days) but then if it was a "HSV" or "SS" it would have been ok but it wasn't. Doesn't matter that they are exactly the same under there.

Then had tail lights checked on a 31 "they were too dull" but then next inspection I said "checked by an auto sparky and said they were normal" and the inspector says "oh they are fine". Grrr....

Can see why people get annoyed.

indicators are to be within 400mm of the side of the car i think..

i have a very similar model bar to yours, and this is where mine are mounted.

(in the right/left hand vents, up the top)

ADR 13/00 INSTALLATION OF LIGHTING

front direction indicators

no more than 400mm inboard of vehicle outer edge

at least 600mm apart

between 350 & 1500mm above the ground

visible 45 deg inward & 45 deg outward

visible 15 deg upwards & 15 deg downwards

(dont look at my front bar lol)

vehicles are not supposed to have any variation to running gear from what came from factory with out engineers report

does not matter if the cars are identical , if the factory did not fit it then they can knock it back

Ive never been over the pits, but some of the reasons they give are just total BS. Things that affect car safety, ok, but indicators too far in, what the f**k does that even mean from a car owners POV? isnt that where the manufacturer put them?

these aftermarket front bars are made for looks only

the reasons are BS but the line needs to be draw somewhere

there are enough bad drivers out there that dont need any help from poorly designed body kits making it harder to see the safty equipment (thats what these lights are) than they need be

IMO

not quite, new federal standards allow quite significant variation in wheels sizes and also allow for variation of track up to +25mm without engineer certification.

My 17x9x10 inch rims passed over welshpool on an S13, and yes they did measure the wheels, check track, and check tyre size - all legal.

there are lots of changes to federal stds going on all the time

the problem is that the state authorities dont always know there has been a change unless someone informs them

also the guys at licensing dont know all the adr's and vsb's that are being developed, if you are aware of some change but you still get knocked back, its probebly because they are unaware and you need to inform the top bloke there (John Dombrose) of any changes to the regulations.

also comes down to the individual checking the vehicle, and he can knock it back for any reason he wants

    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
