Nah, bought better pads...still same problem.

Rotors are glazed and i am not maching brand new $1000 rotors....Feats the whole point of being brand new and slotted. Seems the new pads are wearing the glaze away slowly...

yeh keep at it. bed the brakes in properly..

or a can of de-squeak will work

Hey, guys just thought i would ask you guys what you thought my car has the popping sound at around the 5000 rev mark but keeps acelerating through till 7000 rev, it is really anoying and need to get it fixed.

So far i have found out it is likely to be the coil packs and there are cheap ways to fix them or i can just get them replaced, is this my problem?

I will be getting the sparkplug done at the same time.

get the plugs done by themselves first.. then come back and tell us the results. do a progressive assessment. u wont need new coils unless their fkd

keep it simple man.

* u dont want to spend $500+ on coils, when stockies can cope with 300rwkw, and may no need changing.

"A few of the blokes on there with higher powered 500awkw+ GTR's have had ignition break down issues with the splitfires. They drop the genuine coils back in and the break down disappears."

yep well could be tips of plugs r gone. but my guess is the coilpacks are breaking down.

Rabbit - I had this problem on my R33. To fix the problem, i'd do the following.

1) If your running anything above your stock 7PSI boost, turn it back down and the problem usually goes away - Higher boost causes this problem.

2) If your boost is stock, remove your spark plugs and replace them with some ngk iridium plugs (around $19 each - but well worth it) - dont bother gapping these plugs below the standard 1.1 unless you are running higher boost.

3) If your plugs dont fix the problem, my next step would be to replace your coil packs. This leaves you with 2 options in my opinion.....1) you buy Just Jap coil packs for around $399..... or you buy Splitfires for around $485 from Slide.....

With my experience...I found that Splitfires made my car run very smooth. but as i have heard nothing about JJR coilpacks, i cant really make a call on how well they work when compared to SF.....

Let me know if you need a hand with changing the spark plugs/coil packs as i would be more than happy to help...Sundays are a good day for this :whistling:

Cheers.

i would NEVER run 1.1 on a boosted car.

i ran 1.1 on 10Psi on my old GTR and it wouldnt rev over 5500rpm the misses wer that bad.

regapped by hand the platniums to .7 and took for a drive and hello 9000rpm gate :D and fark it got its bucket load of torque. i remember that day as thats the first time i wet myself in that GTR :whistling: and blew a cooler hose off. on 10psi haha

+1

regap them man to the recommended gap of 0.6 or whatever it is.

u can only leave at the stock gap if u have a crazy ignition system or using a nos system. splitty coil packs or other similar coil packs are simply not up to the task. for that kind of ignition we are talking a dedicated msd coil pack with spark lead. but thats an easy $2k right there.

+2 on the plug gaps. I think from my previous experience you will need no more than .8 gap.

If this doesnt help split fires are good, unless you are chasing 500+ hp they will do fine.

sup guys got a question for ya. put in a new o2 sensor, and have adjusted fuel prs to 40psi, and running super rich :w00t: for once.

ive been runnin 8psi for a few months now, because if i boost over 12 it gets guttless and hits the wall.

now that ive richened it up, can i run 14psi well?

hoping it will work sweet now my afr issues are fixed seen examples with ppl running 14+psi on stock car and reaching 300hp.

dont worry about turbo probs/ constantly ran 20psi ages ago.

if it is the stock computer then the wall you hit is the richen and retard stratergy of the computer, once you reash a certain level of air flow the computer retards timing and dumps a tonne of fuel in hence why you go slow! Upping the fuel preassure will only make it worse and hurt your wallet fuel wise

YESSSSS!!!!!!

FK skylines bro.

go a rz supra with 2jzgte vvti.

wack in a t51r.

3 fuel pumps, surge tank

or better yet keep the tt setup. :nyaanyaa:

skylines are a good learner car. but if u want serious fun go a rz supra

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
