lol yea daz i thought the same thing first time i heard it.

and yea rabbitt. i used a safc for a good 6mths. they change air flow and injection.

so perfect for your needs, but no timing control like on the emu :).

so yea go a safc, and if u have the cash a avcr would be my pick :P

well i dont have my avcr installed, but seen lots of them in use and cars seem to run fine with them, but really just read there functions and see what best suits your needs in the end its your choice, and always buy stuff that u might need for future mods if u are planning to go further instead , to save yourself money down the track.

rabbit Ive owned a r33 gtst, running the basic mods fmic, splities, zuarst , boost, etc ec

i was running a blitz unit and 1 bar, there were 0 flat spots in the rev range. the car was actually on the dyno were it made 212rwkw on 14psi. so obviosuly you would be able to tell if there were flat spots being on a dyno

Also a 2nd car

my mates with the exact same mods made 217rwkw and also had no flat spots.

rb25det turbos are great standerd items being ball bearing and are able to run the 1 bar.

now for boost controllers, ive ran every boost controller there is out, greddy profect b2, greedy e-01s, alot of blitz units, avcr, e boost etc etc

out of all the boost controllers ive used id never go pass the new blitz dsbc, the rectangle shape ones. there very easy to use, and have a great solineod. avcrs are only a single so can only run 2 stages of boost. alot of tunners dont like the avcrs as they tend to take alot more time to tune.

Bang for buck tho the greddy profect b now around 350 from memory, ive owned plenty of these. good cheap units.

So say i go the blitz dsbc boost controller i should then be right to turn boost up to 10 psi?

Are boost controllers legal in queensland?

Also if i want to continue mods futher and have to ECU upgrade is chipping the ECU the only legal was to go?

it will be fine, if u have a fmic zarust pod you could run 1 bar, like i said i was doing and same with my mates. there wree deffinaly no flat spots in the power range aswell, the standered ecu is a self learning program which obviosuly has its limits. i got no idea about boost controllers being illegal. but if a cop pulls you over and your car is non defectable they will find something no matter what.

for ecu. id go a power fc if u can afford it or a haltech/microtech. there arnt many people that tune the emu or a recommened to tune it.

use paul at chasers in kensington... no more than 600--700 should cover it

awesome emu tuner..

if u want contact info contact URAS, good guy

Thanks heaps guys i think i will go the blitz dsbc the type r which are not the really new one but should do the job. I will worry about the ECU at a later date, 10 psi should be enough for a couple of weeks.I will have to pop down to MW performance and get everything set up. Will i need to dyno tune my car just to make sure everything is running good, if so where is a good place on the sunnycoast, would go as far as brissy for a good deal and a good tuner.

well technically anything that modifes your power level of your car changes the emmisions on your vehicle, but u just put it in and put it in a spot that is sort of away from view in cabin then u will be right, also with that missfire and flat spots in rev range, all u have to di is regap your spark plugs to 0.8mm and it shoudl eliminate your problems on missfiring on standard ecu when it richens up bcoz u are running more boosta nd fmic. simple fix.

yet again not sure about legalities of aftermarket ecu's but with power fc it slots onto standard pspot and look stocko, just dont have your controller plugged in and on your dash incase u get pulled up.hid it in cabin.

Also rabbit, id deffintaly be asking a high perofmance mechanic these questions, as alot of poeple on here have no idea wat there talking about and just go on what someone else said from another thread, its very funny. I reakon 90% of sau must think there mechanics, lol. Go see a mechanic and he will obviosuly tell you wats right and wrong.

Yeah i will go and see him sometime this week, or next week at the latest. What did you get marty to do for you Sr_Pwr. It is good marty has worked on the blitz dsbc before as he will know the in's and out's, how hard are they to install, i'm pretty new to all of this. I also know what you mean about this forum there is some bullshit but most of it give you some idea, espicially for new people, i know it did for me, but i still would not go and give anyone advice.

Thanks everyone i think i have it sorted.

he has done alot of things for me

my current 180sx he has built from basicly stock. it now has a big forged engine gt3071 alot of endless mods and hours he has spent on it i bascily gave him all my money and told him to build me a reliable 300rwkw, Thats only one of the engines he has built for me. he rebuilt an rb25det making over 270rwkw and another sr20 in a different 180sx.

with ebcs, just from me he has wired up 2x blitz dsbc and greddy profect b2 and a avcr. also very good with the electronic sides of things.

yea rabbit it makes it hard when you hear 2 different things about how to modify your car. You dont know which road to take lol. but yea like me and daz said take it to a high performance mechanic obviosly doing this every day they must have an idea on how things work.. I will only comment and give advice if im 100% sure im right.

good luck on your mods mate

Very interested in any more info about your rb25det he rebuilt for you pm me with any details if you can?

my stock turbo wasnt bb adam. and i researched the hell out of it before i made any decisions...also got a turbo specialist to look it ova before i sold it. on that note if it was bb i could have gotten a bit more :(

"One of the biggest attractions of this turbo is its sophisticated design – it uses a water-cooled core with a roller bearing, ceramic turbine and lightweight compressor. These factors contribute to a very fast spool-up time. "

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
