Hi all,

Before you ask, yes I've used the search, and I just got a load of crap, nothing even close to my problem.

Anyways, my car just reeks like petrol after I drive it hard, like constantly boosting it (touge, around old pac) then all I can smell is petrol.

I've been under the car and replaced all the fuel lines, new clamps you name it.. there's no leak to be noticed in sight.

There's no smell of petrol at all in the engine bay, fuel rails all nice and dry...

I'm so confused? I'm thinking it's the charcoal canister.. it's sending pressure to the fuel tank and blowing bubbles in there... because my fuel needle goes whacked when I drive it hard... from 1/2 a tank to nearly empty... then drive it normal for like 10 minutes its back up.

Help? experts?

Cheers,

Johnny

Spilling out of the filler cap? hows that possible even when my tank is 1/4 or 1/2 full....

Does the charcoal canister suppose to have some 1-way valve to it? so boost pressure doesn't go back into the fuel tank?

I suggest you check your filler cap and go from there, its a common problem, dont sound surprised :P

I had a similar problem but mine was the gasket between the pump cradle and the tank itself, i had a mechanic install a new pump and he stuffed a few of the threads so the cradle wouldn't seal properly when i took it for a hard drive it just stunk of fuel

Could be your problem, remove the inspection plate in the boot after a hard drive and check if theres any fresh fuel spilt out on top of the tank.

Good luck

Replace cap, remove snout and re-goo.

I originally replaced the cap, no difference, re-goo'd the filler neck and its all good.

good idea, I'll try that this weekend.... what glue did you end up using?

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
