Headlight Wattage

my r32 has 55w headlights, wanted to replace with 100w

55w draws 4-5 amps

100w draws 7-8 amps

anyone dun this. is it too high current. can u think of any problems it mite cause????

This has been covered a million times.

Don't put 100W bulbs in, you will melt everything from fuses, to headlight connections and most likely lessen the time before your little plastic knobs in your headlight switch melt down and lose contact, causing you to have problems with operation of the headlights.

Stick with the 55W globes, but you can upgrade to 'brighter' bulbs at your local autoparts store. I just changed mine for 'normal' replacement 55W globes, and funnily enough they were brighter than the ones that were in it. You can buy 30% and 50% brighter 55W bulbs for a few extra $$$, and it'll save you from melting wiring.

agree with fixxxer..

don't go 100W bulbs just get 55w bulbs that are rated higher

i personally got "narva - arctic blue" bulbs for like $40 from repco and they made the light whiter and brighter

oh, and when you remove your bulbs to find that they are H3C type, just remember that H3 globes fit also, you just need to modify the wiring that takes less than 5mins with a soldering iron (H3 comes in a MUCH wider variety than H3C). do a search for more info or PM me and i'll help you out with a summary of what to do
