I went to do the rear disk conversion on the C210 this weekend and came unstuck. The rear suspension arms from the rally car are somewhat bent, but my suspension arms dont have the 2 holes to mount the calipers.

So... will suspension arms from another model fit (r30 possibly according to another thread?) or will I need the arms or the whole rear suspension assembly, or do I need something fabricated?

The arms from the rally car were marked C210/C211 in paint pen, and looked identical except for the caliper mounting points.

The good news is that I got the R180 LSD to bolt straight up. Banzai!

Cheers.

R30 hatch has a trailing arm with disk brakes (handbrake in the caliper), and, IIRC, the 280ZX had a similar setup.

R30 sedan has rear drums.

When I did the rear disk conversion on my old 180B SSS, we manufacture a bracket to suit the calipers. It used 3 of the bolt holes that hold the drum backing plate (so you don't need to remove the axle to fit or replace it).

So you have two options.

you can't just whack a pair of r30 trailing arms in, they have different toe settings to the c210 and the resulting setup would be undrivable

the only way to do it would be to source a complete r30 rear suspension, or c210.

or make custom brackets.

Most people fabricate a caliper mounting bracket and bolt it where the drum brake back plate was located - use all four holes .

A word of warning here - be very very sure of who does the fabrication/engineering in this area . I have seen a caliper bracket fail and take the caliper and its severed hydraulic line round inside the wheel till it all locked solid . Not nice to think of one rear wheel locked and little or no brakes left to save your life .

Sorry if this is a stupid question but... was there a C210 model that came with rear disks, and if so, will I only need the trailing arms or will it also have the same toe setting issues as the Mr30?

Thanks for the advice too!
