G'Day guys!

I recently had an Mongoose M80 series alarm fitted to my 32GTR.(supplied by Chris Rogers) All had seemed well up until the other nite. Sometimes the passenger door is not locking (which is a seperate issue) so as I walk away from the car I normally try to open the door just to ensure it has locked. The other nite when I did this the car was still running on the turbo timer. The passengger door had not locked. I had already armed the alarm. When i opened the door, the alarm DID NOT trigger.

Is this supposed to be the case? Bcoz I am sure that when I was at the alarm place even when the car was on the turbo timer the alarm triggered if the perimeter was breached.

This morning I did the same thing, but now the turbo timer had switched off. When I opened the door the alarm sounded! Which is what i would expect.

I had the alarm installed by an alarm/audio place in Melbourne that was recommended to me by Chris.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Dan :D

Sounds like the door locking solenoid motor is playing up. Pull off the door trim and see if the motor is engaging all the time when you arm the car.

If not, or it does it intermittently, it takes about 5 minutes to replace it with a new one. Had similar issues in my car and once I replaced it no problems.

Would this also be the likely cause of my alarm not triggering when the door is opened? I was aware that the door locking mechanism is playing up, but I want to also get to the bottom of the issue that was causing the alarm not to trigger when it was armed.

Cheers,

Dan :D

Replacing the central lock motor/solenoid will cure the door issue. However, you may want to check that is just isn't a loose connection or fouling of the mechanism.

Also I was under the impression that although you have "locked & alarmed" the car, there is a delay which stops the immoboliser and siren function until the turbo timer has completed the count down. If the alarm siren was to arm the moment you locked the doors then technically the alarm would sound because your motor is still running and the sensors would be triggered.

My M80 beeps as I lock it and then about 10 secs after the turbo timer has turned off which is the immoboliser and siren arming.

Hey, yea my m80 doesn't arm untill the turbo timer is finished its countdown. and as msnismo said, it waits about 10 seconds after the countdown has finished before it arms iself with the siren.

This is normal, or so im led to believe.

R32 GTR PWR: i have the exaact same problem that you stated, but it was both of my doors. i thought at first it had something to do with the locking mecahnism. so i sprayed wd40 on it, it started working again perfectly then started again. so every 2 weeks or so i jus do the same thing..

it was asif the lock only half locks and doesnt go all the way.

Thanks for the help guys, the only thing that I guess I am still unsure of is this:

On Saturday I was getting the alarm looked at where I got it installed (just putting in a door switch that was buggered). I mentioned this problem to the guy. So we put the car on the turbo timer, armed the alarm then opened the door. Bingo - alarm went off, engine cut etc etc.

Can anyone confirm what the operation should be (Chris Rogers, where are you? :P )

Cheers,

Dan :D

My M80 was supplied n fitted by Chris Rogers. How it works:

When I park, I remove the keys, turbo timer starts to countdown, motor still running..shut the door, press the arm button, it locks all doors while the TT is timing down...as soon as the car shuts down...after about 10secs...another chirp signifies the car is now armed. That, I believe is how it should work...

Send Chris a PM, he should be able to tell u wats wrong.

I'm listening.

when you are arming it are you HOLDING the button or just pressing it. if you press it the car will lock but not arm until the timer drops out. (try this.)

R33- bite me.

You must press and hold the remote if it is in turbo run on mode the siren should chirp all sectors should be armed except for movement sensors they arm 10 secs after engine switches off. If you just press it once then only the doors will lock and the the chirp you here 10sec later is the immobiliser kicking in not the alarm.

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
