haha

yeah my car is in the panel "shop"

started sanding it back today.. paintful job.

Also having real drama's with the rego and compliance process that seems to be dragging on for months. Seems that Trans SA say that the car was illegally complied and therefor no rego is allowable until i get issues fixed and full roadworthy done..

months of f**king around and still no rego

wat drama ? why they said is illegal ? anyway good luck simon
its a long story, but i hope i get it sorted out soon, its gonna cost a f**king wad of cash tho... not happy

yeah exactly, it was passed legally like any other 15yo import, it went to an ais station then over to the transport station that we have (i.e the government , where they tick off that its legal) then back to the ais for a final inspection. every single import in tas has been passed the same way and the guy who passed it from the government transpoert is the head honcho. so let me know if i can help

sadly it doesnt work that way by the looks.. They have said that several of the items needed to comply the car do not conform to standards, so i have to change the child restraints, fit side intrusion bars and so forth since it doesnt comply.. biggest load of shit.

anyway i got sick of being f**ked around. and started on my respray project.

couple of pics here

well i actually asked the guy who passed it at our transport station if that car would be registerable in other states after being rego'd in tassie, he told me once the car was complied and registered it was passable in any state :) . Sorry to hear about your troubles, ill see if theres something i can do :D

short of sending trans SA some C4 in the mail... im not sure theres much you can do :domokun:

been told that in order to get the SA rego i have to have the side intrusion bars, cheapest quote ive had so far is 750 bucks....

what crap.. i wouldnt be so miffed if it was a fresh import, but as you said its been complied and rego'ed in another state.. and compliance means complying with AUSTRALIA design rules.. so this means country wide compliance... and last time i checked tassie was still a part of Aust (tho some people may disagree)

fools... i hate em!

EDIT: Further more... i know this is inark's old car also.. and that he did the manual conversion... All im going to say about that is it the single most dodgy6 conversion i have seen yet.. want an example? how about several! My clutch peddle box broke in peak hour traffic during my lunch break at work... i had to limp it back to work with no clutch.. not an easy task. So i ripped out the peddle box and there was a dozen cotton mechanics gloves stuffed between the firewall and the peddle box... acting as a spacer or whatever the f**k it was for, and that the box was only bolted to the firewall, the third bolt that goes at the top wasnt even there, aso the whole time it has been flexing away and thats why it broke.

So i rewelded it back up, then bolted it in properly and left the gloves out this time :P works awesome now.. the clutch feel is ten times lighter and the feel itself has changed heaps.

Then theres other dodgy shit like, wires for the box not soldered or anything, just twisted together, box cross member held in by two bolts... (Trans SA didnt like this one much either)

Needless to say... inark is dodgy :D

c4 can be arranged LOL, i have the number of the transport guy that passed it somewhere, but it sounds like that wont help

much?, sounds like rego is hard to get over there :D . I gave you all the paperwork from when i had it complied didnt i?

i didnt know about inark doing the gearbox swap :), i thought it came from japan like it , i cant believe he put gloves under the pedal box :pirate: . The wires twisted together was my fault sorry (was like it before), i forgot all about putting some clips on them  , i can also remember asking a "reputable" mechanic if the gearbox mount would be ok , he told me that was fine

nothing to worry about
were his exact words Edited by toffy

that sucks Nimon,, it seems that SA are kunts when it comes to rego'in cars , but we all knew that..

when i took my ceffy through, they just looked at the Vin number and gave me all the paperwork to fill in, took a few hours but didnt have any hassles. my ceff came with out number plates all i had was a rego sticker that was expired and a vin number.

hopefully you can get it rego'd soonish and not have that many MORE dramas with it...

looks tuff now.. and yes prep work sucks major testicals.

    • sold listed as a Tomei LSD 1.5 Way For 1998+ Nissan Skyline ER34 25GT RB25DE w/Open R200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174006114594?campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms=&campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=71883f2ccc571356e0a757bc7adfdde2&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms= it went in like butter all gears, alignment, back lash etc, rotation and clearances correct, and if rolling all rotates smooth and free when coasting down road , clutch in or out over 10 mph smooth... its the binding, clunking and jerking from a stop that is most concerning, also seems like its going to tear the tires off in 10 miles of normal road driving.
    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
