I'm gonna head out to my first drag meet tonight and have a crack. Is anyone else here going? Would love to get any help and tips on the night from some of the more experienced guys.

If you see me please come and say hi. :ninja:

Hey Sam, I was going to head out tonight as well if it weren't for that rain!

That was me on Pennant Hills Rd today if you didnt realise! :)

Hey Dude.

Anyway............

WSID was ON tonight until around 9PM. I got there at 6, was one the strip by 6.45 and managed to get in 7 runs so it was still good value. Track was good enough for me and everyone else.

By the end of the night I cracked the 14's and got a 13.893 with a R/T of .267 and top speed of 163 odd so I'm pretty happy with that for my first outing

Mods are a FMIC, Cat, 10PSi, pod and zorst and a Untuned PFC on chatty Bridgestone G3's. Standard turbo and injectors

Will probably hit the track when I get myself a tune.

kennedy.. you're my hero!

seriously.. good effort mate! Gotta be happy with that!!!

Thanx babe :)

At the end of the day I still prefer circuit work over the strip but it's good to haven a go now and then methinks.

Well good thing one of us got out there!

You heading out for the Wakefield track day on australia day?

Probably. I wanna get an oil cooler befire my next circuit outing so we'll see how we go

I'm heading out tonight again if anyone wants to come. I just spoke to WSID and it's still going ahead......

GO MAN GO!!!

Hope ya have fun being your first time and all. You can give me tips for when I get my tyres this week and head down for my first run.

PS. DONT BREAK ANYTHING!!!!!!

With that eo1, apparently theres a low mode and a high mode. .

maybe the low mode is set to a certain limit??

Anyways a friend of mine had a similar problem.. Wont go past 14psi even on high mode..

Btw you running your car with a untunes power fc?? As in, is the power fc plugged in?? OR you just have stock ecu??

saw 2 skylines today at wsid, i think it was kennedys one and a black series 2 with white rims and a cooler, the black one was the slowest getting about 14.6

got me psyched up wanted to take mine for a run but im sure ill get 15+ lol

Fixed it. I used my 3rd and 4th run to configure the boost controller via the "auto-setup"

The PFC is installed but it still running on the "base" maps. I'm going to see HITMAN tommorow.

Anyway...

Tongith worked out quite well. I set a new personal best of 13.615

R/T = 0.143

60' = 2.046

330 = 5.770

660 = 8.820

mph = 81.78

1000 = 11.424

ET = 13.615

MPH = 102.42

KMH = 164.82

I did that with a launch at 5000RPM and the thing just grabbed. My average R/T was .228 with a best of .143.

Anyway...My annual leave from work is ending this week so I wont be going again for a while. I learnt alot about launch control which I suppose will come in handy when I have to grid up one day.

    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
