Hey,

i have had my car for bout 3 weeks and its a

Nissan Skyline R33 GTST series 2

Manual

101,000 kms

The mods so far and that i got wid the car is as follows -

3" stainless steel turbo back exhaust

600x300x75 FMIC

Apexi Power FC

Apexi Commander

Apexi EBC

K&N pod filter in stainless steel cold air box

Bosch 040 fuel pump (in tank and quiet)

Larger radiator (34mm thick v factory 25mm thick)

Stainless steel radiator guide

Strut braces front and rear

Autometer boost and oil temp on A pillar

Dyno at 204.5kw

Now my goal is for 250kw at the rear wheels, mayb a little more but no less. And its a daily driver. and i dont want much lag either....

What is the best way to do it given the mods that the car already has?

Any idea of the cost also?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

You need to do some reading up on the different turbos available to you. 3 weeks ownership is not long enough to understand all you need to make an informed decision.

Check out the RB25 turbo upgrade thread at the top of the forced induction section for ideas.

  • 3 weeks later...

a lot of people get really hung up on turbo choice. One guy says this turbo and another says to use his favourite brand. Learn how to read a compressor map and go crunch some numbers. That will quickly point u in the right direction. From there you can make a wise and educated choice. Once you are in the right area, it WILL save you heaps, and not wast cash. I've been there done that!! I've a very similar set-up ATM and i'm very happy with my GT3040R. slight lag and solid top end power.. Hope it helps.

I'm aiming for the same target. 250.

I've bought but not installed the following :

Z32 with a Tomei plug - New from someone offloading - $250

Mixed 2nd hand and new 480cc S15 injectors - $500 (but have 2 extra)

2nd hand HKS 2535 - $1200.

These plus a retune ($$ ??) should get me there.

PS. There's a Highflow GCG for sale right now in parts section.

That would do the trick.

R31Nismoid - A New diff ! Oh crap! :)

I believe Bass Junky (before cams) didnt have too bad of a setup.

Bit of time ago now... he would know

He put the cams in before the highflow. Also that is the R34 highflow, not the R33 one. I think there is about 15rwkw difference between the 2.

At 250rwkw you aren't going to win any dyno competitions?

Thats all that peak figure means. It's a peak power figure rather pointless except to determine necessary limits of fuel flow etc.. Why you want that figure is more important.

Ask a different set of questions like..

* What do you want to do with the car from a performance perspective?

* Are you trying to achieve any kind of real performance benchmarks? (like a 1/4 mile time or lap time).

A bit off topic but i was under the impression that the diff was a fairly hardy unit and could take more power than 250kw before it goes bang

I was thinking the same thing. has anyone on the forum had troubles with their diff going around this power level?

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
