Hi all , as usual trying to make things easy if I can ...

For all you people who have HKS's GT2835 Pro S or GT3037 Pro S , I need to know a couple of things about clearance between the compressor housing and the std RB20/25 exhaust manifold . From specs I have both these turbos use TO4E .50 A/R compressor housings and I'd like to think they clear the std manifold by a reasonable margin .

I have always liked HKS's turbine housings because they are biased a bit more towards performance that Garrett's offerings ie the volute passage and nozzle is a better shape . There is a chance that using a real GT3076R (the one that looks like a GT3037S but without the trumpet mouth inlet insert) with Garretts IW GT30 housing that the comp housing may be where the exhaust manifold lives . I'm wondering how I would go with the Pro S turbine housing on this GT3076R 52 trim turbo thats in the wings next year . If I can luck out with a better housing design and clear the manifold it makes life easy .

Just on the Pro S housings , the waste gate vent path looks like it had some serious thought put into it (flat valve not small either) and the dump pipe should not be difficult to re create if its expensive/impossible to get .

Another thought was trying this combination out on HKS's cast low mount exhaust manifold though I have a feeling that the engine mount may get in the way .

Thoughts - particularly from that fella with the 3037 Pro S on the RB25 .

Cheers Adrian .

Not the best pictures but from what I can remember the 2835 comp housing was pretty close to the manifold - I could get my dad to measure for you if you want.

Th compressor housing clearance of the 3037 pro S with the 56T and also .68 rear clears the manifold with ease, i am still able to mount the factory exhaust heat sheild on there as well on the manifold, no clearance problems at all, only fun is just jiggling around to get the perfect fit (as in jiggling the housings and turning them to properly fit it. but no clearance problems what so ever, as well as the INTWASTE well the actuator just needs some modifying to fit and hold properly, Have no fotos at the moment as am away from normal computer, but if your happy to wait i can get them off to you when i get back, hope that helps.

As well as dump/front pipe fabrication, most good exhaust shops should be able to custom one as the funny 5 bolt flange on them. so far so good.

Hope that helps out disco, as for proper measure of housing to manifold heat shield space ummm a good centermeter id say but would have to measure

Cheers

Adam

Thanks fellas , I guess its a case of a trial fit in the end . I remember asking ages ago for pics of the 3037 Pro S exhausting because the turbine size difference (compared to 2835 version) would not have worked . From the pics I'd say the people who machined these housings off set the turbo slightly and it shows when you compare the two turbine outlets in relation to the sealing groove .

Adam how do you find the power characteristics of that 3037 56T with the .68 A/R housing ? Depending on how much off boost urge I can find I was thinking of using the .87 .

Cheers Adrian .

I find the power characteristics as follows, due to that my engine has been fresh rebuilt so im still running on a lighted tune of 244 rwkw's until i am able to dyno after the first couple of thousand km's. In comparision as am unable to take past 3.5 K rpm for first thousand can only really report on findings so far, I have found that with the .68 housing that the boost will start making from about 2600 rpm, there is plenty of torque with the new turbo and i cannot really post much else until i am able to open it out further.

Although i will keep you guys updated when i do with dyno graph and also will update further on power characteristics when this happens,

But in the mean time, AAA+++ in my books, also on another note the .68 housing wasnt a by choice option, although my opinion i would have gone the .87 housing as well, or .82, but as im not chasing too larger numbers at the moment i have settled with the .68 housing

Hope that helps

Cheers Adam

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
