Sound proof external fuel pump

Hi all,

Is there any way that anyone has seen to quieten down an externa fuel pump? I have heard really nasty things about the 044, so I am wondering if anything can be done before I install it.

Hi Steve, mount it in rubber, don't solid mount the hoses or wiring harness, make sure there is at least 300 mm of flexible hose between it and the swirl pot, stick it in the spare wheel well and put an alloy cover plate over it. Oh and turn the stereo up

So will that still be a bit noisey? Could I make up a box out of polystyrofoam (spelling) to help further, or would it be a fire risk?

Don't buy the 044 buy the 510 then put it in the tank....problem solved and you will still have all the fuel you need and it is much neater as well.

What flow rate is the 510 rated to? Also, I believe I may still have surge problems by just upgrading the intank, which I could do with the 044 by itself?

I know a few people with external fuel pumps, you can quite safely mount them inside something, as the fuel running through them keeps them cool.

no probs with the surge I used to have one and I made 220rwkw and the fuel pressure was NOT an issue. Just in tank the 044 if you want

I am going a little over 220rwkw, just worried about on the twisty stuff is all.

Just remember that any fuel system apart from one with a external surge tank will only be as good as where the pickup point for the pump is, mine sat right on the bottom of the tank so no issues

Just keep more than a 1/4 of a tank in and it will not be an issue
