lol, bam!

My switch just gives me half-heigh or full-height when it is already coming up.

If yours isn't working, i'd suggest that either it's not powered (check wire in the boot, in the rear quarter) or it's not hooked up to your head unit properly.

It should go to a wire on your HU labelled "power cont" or "p.cont" or "antenna cont".. something like that. But NOT "remote", as i've heard a lot of people run it to that.

If you set it up correctly, it should only ever come up when your turn your HU over to the tuner/radio. On CD it should bring it down, and the button on the dash has very clearly pictured a half triangle and full triangle. Thus, full heigh and half height. It won't make your antenna go completely down, nor will it make it go completely up if the HU is not on radio.

Also check fuse... not sure where it is, but '33s have fuses in the boot next to the battery, and under the bonnet in a black box. (of doom!)

EDIT: and where your right-knee is when driving. Pop the little cover off. There is a handle kind of thing on it for you to pull on.

Hmm mine stays up even when i have the HU switched to CD, does this mean its wired to the HU incorrectly or is it just farked?

Some headunits don't have a power antenna function, if yours is one of these then it will stay up like you described.

    • I think he was only proposing to use the wire, not the sender. Simply because it runs from the right place to the right place. Personally, I wouldn't hack up the factory wiring like that. I'd just lay in the Defi loom.
    • From memory it wasn't too hard to simply see which wire ran where when you plug that in. Unfortunately also from memory the OEM sender does not use the same configuration 99.9% of gauges run. So in other words if you connect the signal wire that was running to the OEM gauge to your DEFI gauge you might find your oil reads at 200C or some other incorrect value. I remember having the same line of thought and then running new wires/senders to match the gauges I have. The pinout is available in the R34 workshop manual.
    • Does anyone on here know which wire on the GTT triple gauge pod harness is for the oil temp gauge? my sensor works fine but I upgraded the gauges to DEFI advance. And if I can simply piggyback off the oem oil temp wire to the Defi oil temp sensor wire that would make life so much easier.
