i don't understand the people who say they like the JZX100... they look CRAP! and the interior... *shudders*

the interior on the aristos looks crap in photos, but is actually quite decent in r/l

no way do they look crap, gotta remember theres 3 different jzx100s the chaser, crest and the mark II all with different styling (headlights and taillights) the chaser looks the best IMO and looks better than the aristo but meh its personal preference. And as for the interior its not much different to the aristo, but has darker plastics (a good thing) the only problem is the awful stripey fabric they trim the seats and door trims in, but this is only a colour spray or retrim away from fixing..

Jason i respect you enough to say stick to the R32...

You will cry the day its goes... As will I... :)

im sure you have shed many tears over your line at times

its ok i have a tissue hidden in my bag somewhere if you need it *pats poor sensitive man* its ok

of course its ok to cry over your car! it when you start crying over a girl that something is wrong :)

i cried when i sold my gtir  and i still miss it to this day  *wipes back a tear* i'm actually proud to admit that, because i really loved that car. make sure you really want to get rid of the line. dont do something you will regret. i dont think anyone would let you buy your car back after you've sold it.

i'm not saying dont do it, just make sure you want to do it :) that way you will be happy to part with your line.

What like the influx of cefiros? I get no attention what so ever.

It's cause they offer no challenge to the coppers......they are just re-badged camrys.

jk.

I prefer the chasers too, though both made by toyota, same car really....

lilmike_86 - soo true, if you cry over a 'ladie' its only cause they kicked your car on the way out. but i like ladies i swear.

please dont hurt me stephy..... :(

I was tossing up an Aristo a few months ago, what with a 2nd kiddie otw and all. Would make a wicked sleeper for sure and lots of creature comforts as standard. The "auto only" kinda put me off, but you cant go past a luxo 2JZGTE for ~$15K.

I decided to keep the Skyline, but I could turn in the blink of an eye :(

Seen a couple around, nice cars. My mate was considering one.. but he got bitten by the evil bug (after crashing his R32 gts-4).

I'm proud to say he purchased a 260Z with a RB20DET conversion. Lets just say the cops have no idea what they are looking at. Though when we line up infront of the ladies the 33 wins hands down.

Back to the luxobarge, it's quick enough in a straight line... I for one can't stand auto (been in a auto vt for a week... waiting for my daily).

A cressy with a 1jz conversion and 5 speed would be far sexier imo. Cops would leave you alone, nobody would notice you, and if you want, get a body kit, decent rims, and it has most the features already. Plus having access to local parts would make things cheaper to run and repair.

Good luck with your choice, I went for a ride in one while testing cars (I didn't drive... wanted to play passenger heh) awesome ride quality... bit boaty, but decent suspension upgrade could help.

well, it seems i may be able to get one to play around with / see how liveable it is, without actually having to buy it...

my little brother sold his RX7 a few weeks ago, and now he has his heart set on one and is looking to get one in the near future.....

Been thinking recently about how tough it's getting for modified car owners, and also re-assessing what i want in a car.... while it's fun to have something that's quick and nimble, there's always a trade-off (in the case of my '32, it's comfort, NVH, driveability etc)

I've always wanted a nice cruiser, that's comfortable and easy to drive, and the way things are getting with police attention these days, sleepers that don't attract much attention seem to be the way to go.

I was looking through a caryard a little while back, and came across a Toyota Aristo - very sedate looking sedan, but with a mighty 2JZGTE under the bonnet and supra running gear

Had a good look at the car - they're very well appointed in terms of features/extras etc... not sure how they drive, as i'm yet to drive one, but from what i've seen of them, i don't think they'd be too bad....

Now getting older, my focus on what i want from a car is changing.... it used to be to have a good handling/quick car, but these days (in my old age :D) i'm leaning more towards comfort and driveability, not attracting lots of police attention, but while still having a bit of poke....

what does everyone think?

Here's an example of what i'm talking about...

p.s. if i got one, mine would be black, with possibly sunroof/leather (if i can find one in good condition :)) preferrably with alot of the option boxes ticked, and i would just put a nice exhaust, some nice wheels, air filter (still in the factory box) and some dark tints on it.....

what about the good old stagea atleast your still keeping it real with the nissan

    • perhaps i should have mentioned, I plugged the unit in before i handed over to the electronics repair shop to see what damaged had been caused and the unit worked (ac controls, rear demister etc) bar the lights behind the lcd. i would assume that the diode was only to control lighting and didnt harm anything else i got the unit back from the electronics repair shop and all is well (to a point). The lights are back on and ac controls are working. im still paranoid as i beleive the repairer just put in any zener diode he could find and admitted asking chatgpt if its compatible   i do however have another issue... sometimes when i turn the ignition on, the climate control unit now goes through a diagnostics procedure which normally occurs when you disconnect and reconnect but this may be due to the below   to top everything off, and feel free to shoot me as im just about to do it myself anyway, while i was checking the newly repaired board by plugging in the climate control unit bare without the housing, i believe i may have shorted it on the headunit surround. Climate control unit still works but now the keyless entry doesnt work along with the dome light not turning on when you open the door. to add to this tricky situation, when you start the car and remove the key ( i have a turbo timer so car remains on) the keyless entry works. the dome light also works when you switch to the on position. fuses were checked and all ok ive deduced that the short somehow has messed with the smart entry control module as that is what controls the keyless entry and dome light on door opening   you guys wouldnt happen to have any experience with that topic lmao... im only laughing as its all i can do right now my self diagnosed adhd always gets me in a situation as i have no patience and want to get everything done in shortest amount of time as possible often ignoring crucial steps such as disconnecting battery when stuffing around with electronics or even placing a simple rag over the metallic headunit surround when placing a live pcb board on top of it   FML
    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
