It's not rocket science, get in your car, stick it in first and crank it over (handbrake off, feet off the pedals) The car will lurch forward and start and travel forward at idle speed. BTW an auto will not start in gear, they have a neutral (or park) safety switch standard.

i am confused why dosent the car just stale when in gear and you activate the remote start? wouldnt it be the same as you sitting in the car put it in first without the clutch engadged? i think so???? someone explain the "non rocket science to me"

TRY IT. 1 Get in your car

2 Put it in first

3 Start the engine -DONT TOUCH THE PEDALS.

Your car will start and idle while moving forward in first. So dont do this in your garage! (OR parked right behind another car etc. etc......) This is how I got home without a clutch a couple of times.

I realise you guys are recommending that you shouldnt leave your car in gear in order to use a remote start correctly, but bear in mind handbrake failures can happen. And if the car isnt in gear and you happen to have a slightly sloped driveway, say goodbye to the car.

I ALWAYS leave my car in gear, even when its parked on my flat driveway. Force of habit i suppose since i used to have a hill to park on every night.

And dont say it'll never happen, because my mums car did it, rolled down the hill and smashed into a tree on the other side of the road about 1m from going through someones bedroom.

hay guys well as it comes my alarm dosnt start if the handbreak is down but it was up just 1 CLICK! and the remote thuoght it was up =)

the car moved because it was ideling high becuase it was cold =)

i went to jb hi fi to tell them to take off the remote start

and they said they couldnt coz thats how the alarm worked blah blah blah i just think they bullshitin =)

iam also not happy with my remote as the buttons stick out and the car can be triggered 100 m away.

i did my self a favour this morning and cut off the remote start button off the remote control hahah =0

iam planning on taking out the entire alarm and putting in a brant as i was planning onto stupid ricer who sold me the car had to put that stupid alarm

i dont trust the guys at jb to take it out so i wanted to know if any one reconmened some one to take out the whole alarm and all the looms etc =)

Thanks for your help guys

thank god the car ok

running very nice very happy

ohh i also got a wheel alinment today and its spot on cheeers =0

i always leave my work truck in gear when i stop it coz the handbreak doesnt work

but then again the gearbox is ****ed so on very slanty hills it just jumps in and out of gear down the hill very slowly hahaha

akeenan and RB26, are you trying it with the car already running? bzzt.....

with the motor OFF put it in 1st gear, hand brake off, feet off the pedals. NOW crank the car over with the key, you will find the starter motor has enough torque to move the car along, and once the motor fires, the car has enough momentum to let the motor run and kick itself along.

hell, if my old sigmas and galants could do it, it'd be a piece of cake for a modern car to do it.

Remote starts are the dumbest inventon ever, with the exception of snow countries. The idea is that when the car is covered in a half foot of snow, you can remote start it and let it warm up while your still nice and warm in your house.

kinda a waste of effort in Oz.

your arabs are wierd.

personally i don't feel like i've finished parking the car unless its in gear... i dunno one of them oldschool driving things that's been drilled in2 my mind i guess. I tried the startign the car in first gear and you're right, it does keep chuggin along... lol and if my GTS can do it i'm sure all u turbo mofo's can too.

As for remote start... hehehe u dun need one in an N/A... jus turn the key and pump the pedal :) I'm a big fan of them alarms with the handbrake warning etc. and the auto windows n all, but remote start, and remote windows and remote accessory control is all jus a gimmick.

    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
    • Yep, this bit another local owner. I caught it before putting the transmission back into the car, what I noticed was the pressure plate fingers weren't flat and even. It's more obvious with the pull style clutch because the throwout bearing ring was visibly not flat once everything is put together. Nismo should really update their instructions to call out this specific detail. I'm not even sure the clutch as-shipped orients everything properly.
