Hi guys.

i did search but couldn't find anything on this.

i have a 33 gtst s2 and when i drive and go over bumps. ie. train tracks.

i can feel the back end move around a bit.

i was wondering. would it be something wrong with the 4 wheel steer?

i thought maybe its loose or something so when i hit a bump the back wheels move causeing me to feel the movement?

thanks.

What is the centre of wheel to guard height? Sounds like bump steer, and is usually caused by excessive lowering.

340mm is the best height for handling and comfort. Lower than that you are sacrificing handling and comfort for looks

thank you both for your input.

I don't think the car has been lowered much. i know it has sports suspension. the car has 17inch rims with tyres 255/40/17 on the rear and 245/45/17 on the front.

the rear left shock absorber makes a noise when you hit a large bump. (go over a speed hump to fast)

and it moves around whenever i hit a bump, whether accelerating or braking.

i think more so by accelerating.

if i accelerate around a corner and hit a bump. it moves around alot it feels really light asif the back is bouncing around (which i know it isn't lifting off the ground lol) but yeh.

its really annoying because it doesn't even have to be a big bump. jsut driving on a crappy road with a few pot-holes makes it move.

i know i need new tyre's rear ones are completly bald. which i am going to get new ones when it goes for compliance.

also i'm going to get a wheel alignment on all 4 wheels. and i'll get the rear left shock absorber checked out. and see what happends from there.

any more suggestions would be great.

thanks

Ive got the same problem with my car, im thinking its the wheel alignment as i have just replaced all 4 shocks with bilsteins.

Ive had this problem from the moment i got the car so hopefully someone can get the answer.

Ill be getting a wheel alignment in a couple of weeks so ill let you know if it fixes the problem.

Mike.

Hey guys, i know this is an old thread but just thought id let everyone know that i had the same problem with my car and it ended up being my wheel alignment.

The rear of the car was running 12mm toe out on one side and 7 or 8mm toe in on the other side.

The car handles much much better now.

Thanks, Mike.

Had the same problem. It was simply a shock absorber (driver's side).

Replaced it and the problem was gone. Should check wheel alignment also. I get mine done every six months or so.

Cheers

    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
    • Do you have some data like fuel pressure? It's really hard to say if you're still fighting a fuel system issue at this point. Could be something weird like the FPCM dipping out.
    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
    • the top black section is bonded to the silver section with some form of rubber. I assume to isolated NVH from the box
