yeah it says 3 points, but when do you actually lose those 3 points? after the fine is payed?

the points are in effect the day the fine is issued

it doesnt matter when you pay it

you can pay it 3 years later, and the points are incurred on the day u got the infrigement / pulled over / camera photo taken.

the payment simply means you accepted the infrigement as guilty and have paid it.

no, its at the date of the ticket

but he didn't say anything about suspension etc. and when i asked if there was any chance of him reducing the number of points i had lost he said he has nothing to do with that it's up to vicroads.

On Ya Bike!

Pedal power is the way of the future................................... and the unlicenced!

I have dragged out paying a fine for so long that i got back demerit points from an old fine and as a result when the fine was paid and the points added i ended up not losing my licence........... until i did it again!

That said, I have not been fined for anything other than a modded car for abour 8 years.

i'm confused

yeah it doesnt have anything to do with him, if you feel its wrong or incorrect you must not pay the infrigement and contact a masigratates court (info is on the infrigement notice) to goto court about it.

the police officer at the time doesnt need to know how many points you already have or if the points he has just given you have tipped you over the point limit for your licence, as he has nothing to do with that. all he is interested in, is the current point infrigement.

yea paul is right. the amount of point you recieve depends on what exactly you were doing. i dont know what they are but for example between 10 and 15kms over would = ... points. 15 to 20kms over = ... points etc the police dont have the power to change the amount of points you recieve

its hard to know what you are facing when you dont want to tell us what happened

but if you got a fine you got a fine, you lose the points that comes with that

if with those point, you equal 12, you lose your licence, vicroads will notify you of that.

the cop that pulled you over, wont know where you stand on your points, he'll just do what he is supposed to do when pulling you over, and hand his stuff into vicroads and they will take it from there

i already said everything

got pulled over, $215 fine and 3 demerits. i was on the 1 point 12month good behaviour thing. i will be paying the fine and taking the points. i just wanted to know more about when things come into affect.

i know i will be losing my license for 6months because that's the deal when you choose the 1 point 12month good behaviour option. i just wanted to know exactly when my license will be suspended. some are saying you lose it when you get pulled over. others are saying you lose it after the fine is payed.

sorry if i'm a little confused i'm not all too bright :)

you will be told, you will certainly get the letter.

just keep going as you are until then!

yep will do :) thanks

You will be notified by Vic Roads when you need to stop driving.

Sounds like an all too familiar story in recent times for SAu members

you have no idea how much i regret not chosing the other option (lose license for 3 months then get full points) i would've had my license back already and still had 2-3points left. oh well live and learn...

exactly!

- coulda, woulda, shoulda!!!

but its all done now, best to make the most of lots of walking and getting fit or even fitter! and saving on running costs of your car!

Are you sure it is just 6 months you will lose it for now, not 12?

BTW - Got a fine through on the 22nd Dec, appealed it after all the public holidays so will see what happens but as others have said, don't pay the fine if you are going to appeal.

28 days after you being issued the fine

this is what i had when i did mine for 6 months. this is what the police officer told me and thats what the courtesy letter read when i got it. i was already half way through my first month when the letter arrived.
