Hi guys helping a mate out with a conversion, we are putting a 5 speed rb20det in his nasp auto r32, now the motor and gearbox went in fine but the gearbox cross member is about 1inch out on both sides, has anyone else experienced this problem?

Id say that would be due to the auto and manual cross members being different however i dont know if this is correct. Can you get a hold of a cross member of a r32 running a manual trans?

We tried both cross members from auto and manual, they are the same and both dont line up??

here is a couple of things i have heard about you can do. you need a crossmember from a gxi skyline or s13. or just slot the mounts on the crossmember. or turn the mount around and drill new holes

check out this site to be sure to get the right answer http://www.d1nz.com/forum/ search in nissan and you will find the answer...

after converting my cefiro i learnt that there are three types of manual nissan crossmembers, marked with either A, B or C. A & B has forward arching mounts, C has backward. I needed a C for my car, going from auto to manual. Nissan used different floorpans between the auto & manual versions of their cars, so a manual crossmember from the same car might not fit. Hope this helps :P

    • Hi all. So one of my major issues at the moment is my rear turbo leaking oil on the exhaust (and the general area). I presumed it was the rock hard super old drain hose, which it was not. So now I am in the midst of removing the rear turbo to get access to the banjo bolt that goes into the turbo oil feed. As one of the previous owners accidentally? tore off the OEM oil feed hardline that reaches behind the turbo, they ran braided lines directly to the turbo, presumably PTFE. Now, regardless if the line has rubber or teflon inside, is it just generally a bad idea to do this? I imagine these lines get quite hot being between the engine, turbo core and exhaust manifold. I suppose it's not too far fetched to think the line may even have melted. I'd love to hear your opinions on this as as the replacement OEM hardline piece is 130 per unit. And cutting open the currently mounted line to see inside will mean I just have to get a replacement either way. So far I am hoping maybe the bolt just loosened or (god forbid) they forgot one of the crush washers.
    • If it's a factory 20de manual probably has the 6 bolt flywheel in which case the det clutches won't work as they're 9 bolt.
    • All RB push clutches are interchangeable. AFAIK, the 4cyl ones are not. Different flywheels. The RB small box is not identical to the 4cyl boxes. Just very similar.
    • Hi. I need a new clutch for my gearbox. It is a factory smallbox behind RB20DE NEO. What options do i have? If iam not mistaken the gearbox should be the same as in R32 GTST and Nissan S14/S15? I found some Xtreme Clutch Stage 1 for S14/S14 (i dont know if you know the brand) (UK) OR...is the clutch same as in the bigbox from RB25DET?   Thank you!
