Hey people, I can get hold of a mint RX4 coupe for a great price. I am thinking of putting off fixing the line's gearbox and clutch and picking this thing up. It comes in excellent original condition. All orig interior {showroom condition black} series 5 motor, white paint and no rust what so ever{work all done already} and spare everything. Now when I say spare everything I mean everything. ie

5 x spare right and left guards {brand new}

5 x spare bonnet {new}

2 x spare door skins left and right {new }

5 x spare dash { not sure on condition}

5 x grill front

drag way rims on car and brand new set

2 x spare wind screen

spare motor {i think orig motor}

spare complete exhaust

Now if I was to buy this car, I would offload 3 of the spare 5 guards etc etc

Can any body tell me what these parts are worth and does anyone know of anyone that would be interested in buying these parts leaving me a spare set of everything else. It's to good to say no to :(

I HAVE 3 WEEKS TO DECIDE BEFORE HE PUTS IT ON THE MARKET

Now I know its not a skyline but I thought a few of you people might know some ROTOR people and any help or comments would be appreciated :)

If its all ORIGINAL then it's definatly worth the money!! BUT it would be something to only drive a couple of times a year and also something to keep FOREVER! i'd say if its as original at it is then do it......... It wont loose value, Hey the longer you keep it it could gain in value!

Like Deluxe said!!! If its as minta as you say it is buy it!! Original unmolested root-rs are getting hard as to find these days, specially the old school, even the modified ones are getting hard to find!!

I say put the skyline on hold for a while longer and get this!!!! Keep the spares though, you just never know, in a couple of years what they'll be worth/if you'll need them!!!

I have been checking out the rotary forums and this stuff is just not available.

Speaking to mazda wrecker's , they have said to me that these spare's are to hard to obtain these day's and cost a fortune , ie doors for $900 each.

The wife seem's okay with the purchase to but this will have me with 4 car's to rego and insure{single wage}

Other than the extra ins and reg expense, I hate to think what my neighbour's will think. My gtr is pretty loud with the 3 1/2" sytem{dump pipes back to muffler} and carbon fibre cannon 4' muffler, so to have a RX4 coupe going bwap bwap bwap etc , I think it will make me the most hated guy on the block. LOL.

I started up the gtr yesterday to move some fluid in it {oil} etc and the look on the neighbour's face's was :) {not that fu*#en thing again} .

O well , appreciate the comment's people [any more welcome]

thank's

michael :rant:

Yeah if it is an original rx4 it sounds like a great buy, however I would probably hold off on selling your spares (maybe wait a few more years at least, just keep them stored).

You really want to find out if the spare engine is the original, because nothing is better than a classic car having matching engine / chassis numbers!

How much are you getting this for (if you want to keep it to yourself for now, thats fair enough)?

Dude seriously buy this thing............ BUT please dont drive it on a daily basis, and leave it locked up, because it will prob become the most expensive car you own in time to come! Like i said before anything old school rotary that is original is becoming very very rare!

Guys, it's got a non original engine and the bodywork has been done already if you read the first post, so while it will be a nice car, it's not going to be some collector's item that he shouldn't drive.

Sounds like the spares will be worth a fair bit though, so after offloading some of them you could be left with quite a cheap car.

Is it really worth having your R off the road for any longer though?

The only person that can answer that one is you.

Seen the car in the flesh today and was a little disappointed. :( Running and all that but no trim{chrome parts} on the car because as the owner said , no point in putting them back on because he was going to respray it himself. I had hoped to get in and drive away. All the spares are there though. More of a project car than a reliable streeter. By the way, has riggy 167,000 km's on the clock . Was offering him $1000 less than what he was asking for it to make it a bit more attractive to my wife. :no: MMM see what happens

catch is ,getting bug for that bwap bwap bwap noise.

nice example of rx4 coupe in queensland that ive seen and rx3 coupe for sale here in sa LOL

let you know what happens. bwap bwap bwap.

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
