Was driving along to Wollg yesterday afternoon and the car in front of me stopped suddenly, I stopped hard too miss hitting him, and a big 4WD hit me from behind.

Got off the car saw the license plate was dented. saw his was as well. told him shit happens, shook his hand and drove off. Today noticed that the license plate wasn't the only thing damaged. It had paint scratched off a corner. Luckily no dents, damn damn damn.. Guess it's god's way of telling me that I need go get a kit for the rear bar and some matching sideskirts.. lol

anyone can suggest something that would match the nissan factory front lip?

cheers

man, it would want to be a pretty soft bump not to get it checked out propperly aye

we got rear ended the other day, and it looked to the eye like just the plate and bar got a bit scratched

when we took it into suncorp to get it checked out, they ended replacing the rear support bar behind the bumper bar as it had been smashed

admittedly when we got hit, it was an almighty bang

i was suprised at how little damage their appeared to be

glad i got it checked out and repaired propperly though

suncorp had my car back to me in less than 3 days, better than it was before the prang

told him shit happens, shook his hand and drove off.

No sh!t doesnt just happen...some asshole following you too closely in a vehicle not designed primarily as a road vehicle fails to keep a distance from you sufficient to allow him to stop effectively in case of an emergency happens. If youve got his plates screw him. Make the claim. Its not too late

That sucks mate, but how did you miss that?

I had a similar thing happen, but there was nothing more than a dinted number plate. I still spent 10 minutes looking aaaalllll over the rear end of the car for something wrong.

wow.. how much did it cost ya?? i'll get it checked out too

it wasn't a soft nudge.. yet not a large hit.. i can feel it.. i just thought at the time that the number plate area took the brunt of it..

and y i missed the scratches? cuz i didn't squat down to check.. i just bend down and check and when you bend down.. there's this indent on the bumper.. and that indent hid scratches from my line of sight..

damn.. i'll just put some touch up paint on it.. and save up for the rear bar kit...

should have gotten the license plate.. but too late now.. well a lesson learnt...

Why do complain if you get hit, shake their hand & let them leave?

cuz i thought there wasn't any damage to the car just to the no plate..

not complaining.. just like a rant.. to get it out.. i'm alright about it tho.. no angry or anything..

cheers

yeah too late now..

well lesson learnt =) next time i'll check more throughly...and at least take down license plate no..

cheers

didnt cost us a cent

we got the dude that hit us details, and jsut gave them to our insurance (suncorp)

they took care of the rest

What about the arsehole in front Mr Keets?

It good to see someone being smart about something like this. Instead of jumping up and down screaming "i'm going to sue you"

Nice to see some poeple with a consincous.

I'm not saying he's not at fault, and that he shouldn't recieve reibursment for what is happen.

Just it's good he's not a knob jockey like you, who would probably chase an ambulance if you were a lawyer.

WTF??? The road rules allow the person in front to stop as quickly and as hard as they need to (unless they hit something). The person behind is supposed to allow enough space in order to stop without making contact.

I know if someone did that and no damage was immediately visable I'd still take their details and do a closer look later. Certainly if I had that damage on my rear bar i'd hit them up with a new one and as much of a respray as I could....it's my pride and joy and their mistake as simple as that....

Yes i completely agree with that.

To me though, it sounds as though Mr Keets would take this guy to the cleaners and get all angry about it. Just re read his post.

It was an accident and wasn't caused by either of the two involved. Like he said "shit happens" at least he was mature about it.

I have seen plenty of cases where the bar is only moderately scratched, but the beaver panel behind the bar is badly damaged so light tap or not, you ALWAYS get all the details of the driver that hit you, and always report it to the police and tell your insurer so you are fully protected in case you find unexpected damaged down the line.

Bingo.

It doesnt matter how suddenly the person in front of you stops - You hit them, its your fault.

End of story.

[.

Who caused the accident then?

Well if you read the first post it says a car infront of him braked suddenly and he managed to avoid hitting it but the 4wd behind him was not so luckly.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

I dont make the rules I mearly live by um. Leave an appropriate gap incase of an emergency. Not get all grumpy about the guy infront who didnt.

I wouldnt sue him. I would report the incident and make a claim...which is what i pay $1K a year insurance for.

"Nob Jockey" :glare:

When people say "accident" they give up responsibility for their actions. There is no such thing as an accident, they are incidents. Its only an accident if the people in the situation cannot exert control..meteor falling form the sky stuff

Chasing ambulances...I dont think so, I'm way better than that

I dont get angry over little stuff like that...I take the approach that while sh!t doesnt happen, it certainly wipes off.

Finally, I empathise with HolyEvil, in the throws of the moment, with the heart racing and the adrenaline surging its too easy to be glad some knucklehead hasnt truley bent your ride. You make a cursory examination and decide that "sh!t happens" and both drivers go their way. Its only later when you realise the damage is a little more severe. I know I did it when I was a kid. But I certainly wouldnt let it happen too me now. Its a lesson learned for us at the expense of HolyEvils wallet...who seems like a reasonable chap as do you Kralster.

I mourn the old days... When lawyers were only consulted when a will needed to be read...Those days are over my friend. While it's laudable to take the percieved moral high ground it doesnt pay the panel beater.

Luck has nothing to do with it dude. The 4WD failed to stop, it makes no difference why he failed to stop.

I like your type of driver, tailgates me , right up my ass and you have no way of stopping if for some reason I have do. You rear end me then you get out and blaim me for it, I had that before sveral times.

The most recent that comes to mind, my doughter driving the car in front pulls up for some reason, RED P plater behind her in a Laser runs in to her, gets out of the car and abuses her for stopping.

When he got the repair bill ( of course he wasn't insured he doesn't even want to know about it.

Ah well the original $1100 repair bill cost him $2000+ by the time he finaly paid.

Here is a lesson for you and others that insist on tailgating ( especially driving old poorly cars with poor or not well maintained brakes), keep your distance , reaction takes time as well as the the fact that the car in front of you may have much superior brakes than and tyres that you ...

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
