Just wondering who has/has used an ARC side mounted cooler, and what the experiences have been like relative to stock side mounts?

They are quite expensive retail, so ultimately if I was after one I'd be looking for one second hand, but first I'm just keen for some feedback on the quality.

If they really are as good as the price suggests it may be worth a shot, however I'm also aware of the benefits I could get from sticking an R34 side mount on to my R33 as QRI05E and others have shown, (and for just a fraction of the ARC cost).

So any feedback from those who have used them would be much appreciated.

:)

Just how much better is the stock R34 SMIC over the R33 and R32 ones? I have an R34 and I am planning to get it to about 200rwkw and leave it at that - will it be safe enough to run the the factory item? I would rather not get a FMIC if possible.

Yer you should be able to get about 200rwkws with support mods on the stock FMIC with r34s

from all reports mate the stock R34 isn't such a bad unit and it should be able to handle 200rwkws.

Excellent - thanks guys. I can always rig up a water spray system for hotter days if there is a problem.

ARC SMIC replacement for a R34 GTT = 1700

ARC FMIC replacement for a R34 GTT = 1000

Ouch, Id like an ARC SMIC replacement, but look at the price, so much more expensive than a FMIC.

I wonder how much better a ARC SMIC would be compared to a factory R34 GTT unit.

yeah exactly - I've seen them a few $100 cheaper however what I'm really after is just some info on how they go. Basically, is the crazy price an accurate reflection of the quality?

I got the R34 ARC SMIC on my R33. The quality is incredible! It is a fair whack larger than the stock R34 and huge compared to the R33 one. Can't remember the exact sizes but the thing is FAT and barely fits in position. From memory it was ~11cm thick, 6 rows taller and 30% wider.

I'm hoping to take this thing to 250rwkw with a custom duct from the front bar, we'll see how it goes.

that's what I was thinking of doing tuitahi, R34 ARC replacement on to R33.

How many rwkws you got at the moment?

Depends on the dyno... but would be fair to say 200rwkw running stock turbo at 8 psi. Never dynoed at higher boost pressure but it pulls a fair bit harder.

Hopefully once the GCG VG30/RB25 hybrid hiflow goes on, the cooler will be up to the task of 250 or more.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
