This game is so good, but I might rattle on about it later. What I want help with first is....

What car & track can I use to crack 300 km/h!! I'm racing all these supercars & I can't even crack 300! This highest I've done is 299 on a downloaded Daytona track with an MC12. I've even tweaked the gear ratio's, wing downforce, & other settings, still can't make 300+. Fellow GTR 2 racers, help please.

;)

hahah yeah I downloaded the track the other day, so good! I’ve managed a 7.11 with a Ferrari 550 Maranello :) So far I’ve found it the fastest overall. The MC12 is great at high speed cornering, but when hard on the brakes it understeers too much, where the Ferrari will let the back go a little & let you throw it into the corner just keeping better speed & control, really makes a difference time wise around the nurburgring

I reckon I can shave at least another 6 seconds off it with practice. *keyboard also* Considering buying a steering wheel but I don’t have much space where my computer is*

So what car did you crack 309 with, what where the general setting changes?

hahah cheater! Nar but don't you think cars in the game should be able to crack 300 fine down the straight? I've reduced the wing downforce for max speed, stll can't get there. Eg. GT3 RS can do over 300 km/h in real life, why can't I get one to do so in the game, or even with a much faster car like an MC12 or 550.

Update: 7.08 around the nur in the 550 again. *keyboard*

Will shave off another 3 seconds next time.

Edit: 322 km/h down the nur straight backwards in the Ferrari 550.

I love this game, but only have a keyboard. I just tried with no aids except ABS and TCS and it was hard gearing as well as accelerating and turning....

Do you guys run the Nurb Tourist or Nurb VLN? the 24hr track is just the normal F1 track i think, thats pretty stupid. I just did 1 lap of the VLN course with the Mercielago in about 8 minutes, but thats after about 3 weeks of not playing at all.

Get LeMans you guys

http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=1550

We need to have a comp who can lap it the fastest, it's such a great track, tests you in all racing abilities, plus you really have to custom tune your car to get the best time.

Before today I did LeMans with a Ferrari 550 in 4:04

Today been tuning the MC12

LeMans 3:55.355  *keyboard warrior also*

Haha I am an ex Gran Turismo nut from way back. Simulation on the PC is much better. How do you find the track IR? I dont know a whole lot about the system. Definitely need to get a nice steering wheel as the 360 controller is a bit suss, least its got analogue

Analogue is good, FF better, seat with built in drivers even better for thumps and bumps. for good light fun though nothing like getting thrashed the the LFS crew.

Track IR is good but you tend to not turn in hard enough (since the screen tricks you by tilting toward the corner) and smack the outside wall while learning. Good for flight sims though. I use the vector system for 6DOF head tracking.

Yeah I agree that sort of setup would be pretty awesome. I have thought about it but there are just not enough quality driving games around to justify the outlay. Maybe if people started paying for their games instead of downloading torrents there would be more quality games. I dunno I guess im just having a bitch session.

I'll d/l Le Mans 2night and give that a burn.

Ive found that emptying out the fuel tank (sneaky) actually gets better times for obvious reasons.

Ummmmm i did the 7:15 on the tourist version of the ring.

Should i be using the other one?

If so my times suck then lol

EDIT: Ive even gone to the extreme of downloading the MoTec Pro i2 program to analyize my track data hehe.

Awesome program!

Get it free here

http://au.motec.com.au/release/files/mi2_pro_1.01.0082.exe

Its a lil hard to setup so head here to get a guide on setting it up to log correctly.

http://forum.rscnet.org/archive/index.php?t-260894.html

or this .pdf

http://www.blimeygames.com/files/GTR2%20Mo...ers%20Guide.pdf

Pretty sure the above link is the right one, i can't check it cos anything to do with games is filtered here at work (damn government)

If not then just jump on google and search something to the effect of "GTR2 Motec Logging Setup" or something like that :(

    • Reading through the engine service manual their advice is do a cylinder balance test. Unplug one injector at a time and see if the idle drops a consistent RPM. You can also do this using a Consult cable which is easier. They also call for unplugging the power transistor, then with the engine off and the fuel rail unhooked from the manifold verifying that you have good fuel flow (even injection, no dripping/leaks, etc) when you twist the CAS by hand. Also verify the spark by pulling the spark plugs and allowing the plugs to ground and turning the CAS by hand. I would also start doing the sensor checks and idle valve checks in service manual. Make sure the MAF tests reasonably, the intake air regulator is sane, etc. You may have to get new spark plugs.
    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
