Well we have managed to get ourselves a drag day on Sunday 25 March running up against the V8 Owners club.

Should be heaps of fun. There will be a DYO session after lunch for those who need the practice.

Cost will be between $200 and $220 I think (Gotta confirm this).

Cars cannot go quicker than 11.00 sorry.

The idea is, for those who haven't been to one of these, we have the whole day at the track and a maximum of 50 cars running. This means that during some parts of the day you can literally do a run then come back down the return road and go straight back in without even lining up.

I have done a few of these days and I think my record is something like 37 passes in one day. I know a few of you may point to the cost compared to a wednesday night street meet but this wins hands down. You get many more passes, even on a pass per $ ratio you are better off. Also you get a chance to practice without waiting an hour in between runs.

I'll let you know how we are taking payment shortly but for now, post your interest and questions.

For newbies, it's a perfect start. Plenty of people around to help with advice, plenty of time to race, no pressure to get going quickly, etc.

What else can I say? I'll be there!

EDIT****

The Skylines Australia bank account details are as follows:

Bank - NAB

Branch - Marrickville

Account name - Skylines Australia NSW

BSB - 082 356

Account number - 546 393 766

Cost is $210

Please put your full name in the description. If you are depositing at a branch (how quaint :D) then make sure you put your name on the deposit form (I know there is a spot for it on there somewhere) and ask the teller to enter it so he/she doesn't forget.

When you have done all this email me at - bob at estc dot net dot au - with your internet banking receipt or date and branch of deposit.

Please include in the email:

Full name -

User name on the forums -

Mobile Number -

Amount paid -

Copy and paste the above to make it easier for me.

Important - You will not be confirmed until a deposit has been made.

Thank you.

Another edit***

$210 to play. Full payment in one go please. I'm sick of chasing people for second payments.

The day looks like being a sell out so don't delay too much.

Refunds for cancellations will only be paid when there is someone to take your spot. That seems safe at this stage though.

Another edit***

No cost for spectators.

BTW bikes are allowed.

You can bring a second car for free but only you are allowed to drive your car/s.

Second drivers of your car are $100 extra.

******************FURTHER EDIT******************

This is from the V8owners website, just so we've got all the info here:

The Private WSID hire is locked in. A casual and not so relaxed day of Grudge & Bracket racing for V8Owners members SAUers, friends and family. As many laps as your beast can handle!

Please support the day, you will have a blast! Also, try and encourage drag racing newbies to sign up as well, these days are a great introduction to the sport.

The price of $210 includes the following:-

* Driver entry

* 2 x crew tickets

* 3 x spectator tickets

* Spectator areas PLUS Corporate box "Chillout Room"

*Chillout room*

In addition to the track-side spectator area, we have arranged an air-conditioned "chillout" room (corporate box by the track). The intention is to provide an area where people can get out of the sun for a while, and sit in comfort. Pertinent for families, but all welcome.

*Schedule for Day*

* 8am gates open

* Breakfast and Scrutineering between 8am ~ 10am

* 10am driver briefing, Grudge racing commences

* 1pm stop for Lunch (30 mins)

* 1:30pm ~ 4pm bracket racing session, including reaction time comp

* WSID Gates close 5:30pm

*

Driver and Car requirement*s

* Usual WSID street meeting rules apply, please read up on them

* Cars faster than 11.00 seconds no longer permitted for WSID private hires

* ANDRA license holders must race under their ANDRA number

* Drivers require ASA approved helmet, enclosed shoes, long sleeve shirt and long pants

* Your most recent drivers license

*

IMPORTANT RULES FOR PRIVATE DAYS*

* *No car is allowed to run quicker than 11.00*

* If your car runs faster than 12.00 you must have a Current super street ANDRA licence. You can get your ANDRA licence here I will try and arrange an ANDRA Representative to be present on the day.

*Rain-out Policy*

If it is raining on the morning, it is likely the track will postpone the event. In this case, we may be liable for fixed track costs; this could be around $10 per driver. We will post a message here on SAU before 7:30am on the morning of the event. We can arrange phone calls on the morning for those traveling a long distance to the event. Where it rains during the event before lunchtime and the track declares it a washout, a pro-rata refund applies. Where it rains after lunchtime and is declared a washout, no refund applies. That is the deal on offer.

*Refund Policy*

We will assist in transferring tickets where circumstances dictate you can no longer attend, we will maintain a reserve list for this purpose.

*Catering*

Catering will be provided on the day by the lions club.

Tickets will be given to the drivers on the day.

    • Yeah, but knowledge of one wire's insulation worn through to short on earth implies the possibility of other wires doing the same. I had my power steering die, because the wire that runs to the solenoid valve on the rack runs in the same loom as the power wire for the O2 sensor. And when the O2 sensor/wire did something stupid and burnt part of that loom to death, the only indication was the shit(ter) fuel economy and the heavy steering. It took deep excavation of the looms in the bay to find the problem. Not wear through in that case, but similar shit.
    • Ah, I thought he'd wired it to one of the spare ECU inputs! Too long ago since I read that post, ha ha. I've been arguing with radiators, harmonic balancers, alternators and rust since reading it.
    • Correct. The ECU cannot read oil temp. (Well, I think it probably can in some situations. I did have the thought of potentially repinning the ECU when I was doing oil pressure). I am using this into the MPVI dongle, so that the MPVI dongle can read oil temperature. It is attached to a VDO gauge which is obviously calibrated to whatever curve the sender actually is using. This would be easy if I could setup a table of voltage to temperature like many sensors, but it appears I cannot do this and can only setup the transform rule which appears to be Input (voltage) x Multiplier, and add an offset. This to me means it MUST be linear. So it may be a complete waste of time wiring this into the ECU. The idea was that the MPVI3 has standalone logging. I wanted to use this instead of a laptop with serial cable (for wideband) for long datalogs. Given the wideband also has electric interference, I may never trust this either in a world where the serial wideband and the analog output wideband do not agree. Last time I did a trace I could see the two wideband traces follow each other, but one was a little leaner than the other. I plan on playing with voltage offsets and actually driving the thing to see how close they correlate. If they never correlate... then, well, maybe I'll never use either. Ideally I'd like to have the Analog wideband read ever so slightly leaner than the serial one, because the serial one is 'correct'. Tuning the car to be ever so slightly too-rich would be the aim. Not needing to have a laptop flying around in the footwell connected with cables is... an advantage. About the only one from the forced upgrade to MPVI3.
    • Hopefully not, since he knows the fuses work ha ha ha
    • I don't think he's got it on a gauge and on the ECU. I think he's got it on the gauge and on the HPTuners DAq thingo. Remember, we're talking about oil temp here, not something that the ECU is actually interested in for its own sake.
