sounds good.. let us knw what u do...

but it just seems that ur halfway ther with the GTT with all the suspension mods..

maybe someone knowledgeable (i.e. from on here) will see the value of the fairly extensive work it's had done to it - just not in the usual way i guess (meaning spend all your money on the engine and worry about the other stuff later).

i'm not asking for offers or anything just yet but feel free to PM or post what price ballpark you think is reasonable. 87,000kms, i guess the sig says the rest. no accident damage, one owner since import, cosmetically very clean (including underneath), it'll be sold with 18" rays nismo rims....

>_<

I vote to stick with the Skyline. With the power you've got and decent suspension there's no reason it can't go alot faster at the hill. My GTR doesn't have that much power and has run 46.2 with a very basic suspension setup - ie just buddy club coilovers, no camber correction or anything. But awd and less power would be easier to drive around there. Stick with it - the times should keep improving. Just buy that cheap runaround and save the aggravation of trying to sell the 34. Besides its a damn nice car.

ps- i hate clubmans, so this may not be the most unbiased opinion...

PM'd mate. If you're willing to hold off for a couple of months - are you interested in a swap for either my 4dr R34 GTT or 2dr GTT + cash adjustment? Both are essentially stock, 4dr has 116K and 2dr has 95K. First aussie owner for both.

Cheers

LOL why do you hate them so, Harry? I'm yet to have a proper look at one so I'm neutral on the subject.

I'm not a very experienced hillclimber but I think AWD is a huge advantage around there. Part of it too is the car badly needs a better diff, the standard helical is fine on the road but spins up when you give it 100% (coming off turn 6 at QR or heading back up the hill towards Lover's Leap).

Erm no sign of PM in mah inbox....

My old man actually has his Canstel clubman up for sale (or is about to put it up for sale). . . . . And your car is basically the same setup as mine (ignore the 33, 34 thing) but with the HP mods I haven't got around to yet. . . . . hmmmm.

Decisions

What are you doing with your track rims/tyres?

I'm sure they're a hoot to drive, I just don't like them! I took an instant disliking to them from the first time I saw how disgustingly quick they can be on a racetrack.

I used to run a 2L Datsun 1200 coupe (IPRA race car specs with full cage etc) for years before I bought the GTR. Towards the end it had 146bhp at the wheels and ran a 48.37. I think it was a big advantage learning the hill in a lower powered car. It would be alot tougher learning the hill in a rwd car with 250KW as you've done

Yeah, that diff would be a bit of a limitation on the track with the power you've got! My GTR actually has the inside rear wheel in the air when I start accellerating out of the hairpin - both times through it! Have to feather the throttle to keep it from wheelspinning too much - the open front diff isn't actually much help out of that hairpin either.

what kind of times are the clubman kit cars doing there? I don't really pay much atention to them...

Well I remember seeing a Westfield with the independent rear doing mid-45's, and other one with a SR20DET in it going even quicker.

The Hill's a pretty intimidating place in the R34. Fun though, and at least you don't get the cooling worries you get at QR in the hotter months.

I'd sell 'em with the car or separately. IF I sell the car.... :O haha

Always on the lookout out for nice track rims :) The Volk GTP track rims I have aren't too bad but the P1s are just sooo light.

Yeah its a tough market as I am finding out first hand. I cant sell my clean 94 33 for 11k :P

What is it with people offering swaps lol. I have had 5 seperate people from carsales contact me offering me swaps ie. a R1(moto), vs commodore, silvias etc I think that definatly says something about the second hand car market, at least as far as imports are concerned..... its DEAD>

Are you kidding?....wait 3 more months or so and I have a buyer for you. He's just getting the cash together.

I can supply R33's for around 11k plus rego all day everyday but the trouble is no-one wants to pay for them anymore. It's no longer "cool" to own a skyline.

I do believe the clubman type cars to be much more a purist sports car. Light weight is the real key to speed (besides the driver growing confidence + balls), and seems the way to make everything else work together better. And 120kW at the fly still gives great power:weight when you're coming in under 600kg with driver and fluids on board!!

Probably a bit light on for creature comforts and refinement though.

so yeah...

have driven a couple of clubmans now... not that impressed to be honest. just can't afford to drop that much on a toy.

so it looks like selling the R34 and running around in a "normal" car for a while... :P

sad, yes, but i'll be happier when i see my bank balance recover. :)

    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way.
