Recommended Posts

Great Day despite The Spit being shut and also a few no shows :D Picked up Drew along the way who drove all the way from NSW to chk out the QLD scene. Thanks for all who attended.

Might organise another one next Sunday when the Spit is definately open! Stay tuned...

Oh and almost forgot, we managed to recruit a new QLD member who joined us in his Patrol today but soon to be in a 33  Welcome and be sure to contact Karen SMR33 for the relevant forms and payment!

Pics coming soon.

Well the liners survived my first outing today. The more things change the more they stay the same. Cruisin hasnt changed much in 25 years. Meet, Hang, ride, Hang, ride, Hang. go home. Gotta love it.

Met some damn fine liners and saw some first class cars. Thanx for a great day guys and gals. Will definitely do it again.

yes welcome bro, i had a GR8 day, to bad for the kid that went up $38k ride at the trafic lights eh.... cause of the dame ambo. Look we really have to get more people in on this as it feels good to meet all the new crew face to face, and its good to see some chicks in skylines, just wish my chick would get one too.

is she single?

Wasn't she with dat guy that was in the car?

Good to see some nice girls driving skylines who actually stop and say hi, need more of em rather then the stuck up ones that drive past ignoring the 6 odd skylines parked on the side of the road. lol

Where did you guys end up meeting? i had a quick look at the spit, and went down to the broadwater carpark but i didnt see anyone. i must have just missed yous. anyone coming down this sunday?

nice pics by the way.

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
