hey all just want to know what the max boost a rb25det can handle regarding just the motor its self...

atm it is running about 1.5bar with a t70 turbo and all is well, just want to know if that is safe

is the motor capable of more boost or is this about it???

no pinging and no leaning out, so far :)

Cheers Acea

Its not about how much boost can it handle its about how much power it can handle on stock internals. What power are you making at the moment? Then we can give you a basic guide to what is generally considered safe on stock internals. Around 250-260rwkw for longetivity of engine.

cheers for the fast reply

heres the full story... me and a mate have been building his 32 rb25det for ever and have logically progressed to the point where right now after getting a 3in put on 3 days ago the 38mm gate is to small to bypass enough gas. so with the wategate connected straight to the manifold it spikes at 1.5 and drops to about 1.35 in 3rd. where as before with such a restrictive exhaust the max boost it would run was about 14 psi with the wastegate connected to nothing or the boost controller set to max.... being in wodonga and both working full time its going to be about 2 weeks before we can install a tial 44mm gate or something bigger (unsure if 44mm gate is enough?)

it made 200rwkw with old exhaust and i think now at 1.5bar and a free flowing exhaust its probably pushing 250 ish (really unsure? +or- half a brick) but the stuck in the seat factor has increased considerably and it breaks traction in 3rd...

just need to know if 1.5bar is ok untill we can change the gate and get it back on the dyno for a tune

cheers acea

AFR's are sweet thanks to a wb02 kit :) we have the computer mapped for a z32 maf but are using the r32 one to put the comp into saturation so at full noise and 7k its running about 11.5:1 (as soon as we are happy with the boost controllability its straight on the dyno for a re map and some timing)

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
