Oh please dont go to EBAY to buy a VIPER.

Just do a search on here we have discussed this before. They are B stock and they require a specialised programmer to set them up.

$180 wont even cover me opening the package and reading the instructions, im sorry to say.

Alarms have to be fitted properly because they can kill you or someone else if they malfunction.

I bought a Viper setup with all the trimmings from GK Technology on nissansilvia.com .... had Mike install it (same guy that did Vange's and Luke's) - can't remember the business name but they are next to Morpowa at Modbury Heights. Great alarm and great fitting job. He does top notch stereos etc too incl. custom fibreglass pods, bays, boots and anything else you care to want.

Yes John Phillips is his name.

The reason im cynical MADAZ is because i have done one and dont ever want to see another one here again.

Viper doesnt offer much in the way security but really more so wank features. Its got LCD and remote start. Its non AUS Standards approved and it isnt insurance approved, (Single immobiliser via an external relay).

If thats the way you want to go thats fine, but im sure Chris Rogers who does alarms day in and day out Brisbane, who is also a member here will tell you the same thing.

But yeah John Phillips is definitely a good bloke if you see him tell him George from Adelaide Pro Sound said hallo.

ah yeah sorry John, not Mike my mistake. Good bloke. cheap prices and he put in 4 way immobiliser which my insurance company was most impressed with. They know the model etc of the alarm and are 100% fine with it, especially since it has the 4 immobiliser points and hidden kill/start switch :(

Viper is only single point not dual and it has remote start which is illegal.

So really its up to you guys, which way you want to go with alarms.

At the end of the a Viper at $380 plus $180 fitting is still $560 for an alarm with no real local warranty.

For $500 installed you can get an Autowatch 160Rli with black wired, AUS and NZ Standards approved, twin immobiliser built in, large battery back up siren, doors, boot and bonnet protection and also a dual stage shock sensor.

Alarm comes with 2 year warranty on the product, and lifetime on the installation.

You guys make up your mind which way you want to go.

Yes Nightcrawler you can, but if you knew how a relay works when its NORMALLY OPEN it will suck a fair amount of juice from the battery to keep the circuit going.

I remember years ago i did a couple with 3 relays on board that needed to be energised at all time to be OPEN CIRCUIT, and guess what the next morning the battery was DEAD.

Hence why i choose alarms with built in relays because they draw less current.

Each to their own i guess.

cool, thanks for the info prosound.

Oh and remote start is illegal in Australia.
- haha yeah and so is speeding, burnouts, drifting etc etc

I just don't get why remote start is illegal - the engine stops if the brake pedal is touched or the handbrake released so it's not a safety issue. And the car has to be in Park with Handbrake on for it to start, so is not a starting safety issue.

    • thanks, will conduct myself accordingly. i unfortunately put about 150 miles on the car before reading this thread again, however no PS issues, and definitely no turbo issues. it spools normally and still feels fast to me, probably because my previous car was an N/A auto sedan...gonna go fix the PS vacuum line though lol. safe to say, got what i came to this thread for. thanks
    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
