Sorry for the nickname spelling. Correct it's redstuff pads I've got on my order list, just a typo on the forum thread.

whats the difference with redstuff greenstuff which is better for everyday driving with the occasional spirited drive

Hi Mate,

The greenstuff is rated at 600-ish deg C, while the redstuff is rated at around 750deg C.

Have a look at http://www.ebcbrakes.com/greenstuffinfo.html for greenstuff info, and

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/redstuffinfo.html for redstuff info on these pads.

The redstuff is made from the new 3000 series compound.

Some people who has used the redstuff likes them, for the price they gave value for money, and give better feel than the greenstuff. I had greenstuff when I had my R33, low dust, and good daily driving performance. For spirited street drive I'd recommend redstuff based on what people have told me regarding their first hand experiences.

Red should be enough for once in a while club track days (4-5 laps), and hill climb events. But if you're after more racing edge, e.g. for downhill race motorsport, then I can source you some yellow pads or even extreme blue racing pads, but these cost heaps and are R 'Racing' rated compound which RDA told me need to be warmed up a bit before you get optimum performance from it...

So IMHO I won't recommend it for street cars to use anything above redstuff, as they also cost more and probably overkill on most street cars.

Hope that helps...

yeah thanks heaps rs73

im upgrading from non turbo brakes on my R33 gts4 there are pads that came with the brakes but its now something i need to consider for when they wear out.

pm sent..

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
