i noticed when i put my boost controller in and setup the gain it spooled faster than when i was just using the wastegate

i don't NEED to run a boost controller if i don't want to...if you say the hks actuators are second to none then they will hold whatever boost level they're meant to hold properly...
Gee...thanks for the technical lesson...i'm a certified mechanic and mechanical engineer and been involved with turbo cars for 4 years...as if i didn't know that a bigger turbo would cause more lag...when i said positive boost at 3500 (NOT 1000rpm) i meant that the boost gauge would read 0.0bar at 3500 or more...now that i know for a fact is abit late...i'm asking for opinions and suggestions here...i don't need to know that i need a boost controller and i need a dyno tune...so before you try to teach me how about you read your own crap first...i don't NEED to run a boost controller if i don't want to...if you say the hks actuators are second to none then they will hold whatever boost level they're meant to hold properly...

So sorry Mr education....

Best you don't assume nobody else here has mechanical experience. How well do you know me????

4 years is such a long time now isn't it?????

Tread carefully my friend...

Go ahead and improve on a HKS internal wastegate, I would love too see that.

Maybe the wastegate is not operating correctly but that is not a design fault..

Since when have i ever said i wanted to improve on the wastegate anyway...4 years also ain't that long...but its definitely enough time to know that a larger turbo will have more lag...and its definitely enough to know i need to get it tuned for it to run properly and safely...anyway...so if you do have more experience...give me a list of possible causes and i'll take them into account...instead of telling me redundant crap like how i MUST run a boost controller...

That was my first guess but after trying 2 RB20 and 1 RB25 actuator i thought otherwise. New hose with hose clamps were used so it did'nt leak.

Im going to open up the waste gate a bit more once i take the turbo out for the new motor. Theres more than enough meat in the housing to grind yet still keep the HKS popper flap and keep a seal. It cant do any worse can it.

Thats a good idea...i might have to do the same thing if i can't sort this problem out...can i ask what dump pipe are you using? is it a hks original or some other dump...cheers...

Come on now and get serious, I cannot believe some of the rubbish that is posted..

:)

Their all questions... everyone learns from somewhere

oh p.s. getting a turbo to spool under 1000rpm? please read hpi with bee r's s15 on the front cover :) (supercharged sr20det + tdo6) :sorcerer:

I started with a blended 3inch dump. I now have another dump converted to screamer with a 2inch screamer. Still the same.

If you guys are paranoid about the actuators... best way to checking if it opens correctly and what psi its set at by using an air compressor with a guage on it... that'll determine if its screwed or not...

2nd thing is porting the wastegate hole on the exh housing... better to get it done professionally just incase you go too much then your screwed.. only your dump pipe will cause this issue if the flapper dusn't open all the way cos its hitting it..

let us know how you go

    • Yeah good luck out there! Will be good to see a mighty GTST going harder than the GTRs
    • i will be there 😁
    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
